Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Sep 15, 2026, 09:47 PMHow much are they going to lose drawing 20k fans per game for the rest of this year and next?  It will be cheaper to buy him out than take the losses in ticket sales, concessions, merchandise etc..

You're comparing it to a world in which we hire someone that can put a product on the field to fill seats.

I am not sure that world exists.

Maybe not, but we can definitely put a product on the field that will empty them.

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Sep 15, 2026, 09:26 PMThe only reason you keep RS is if they haven't fired HY yet.  HE CANNOT be allowed to make the next hire.

Imagine the candidate list for the next hire if we fire RS after 1yr. Now we've ran off the fanbase as well. Program has nothing to sell.

Edit:  and I'm not saying he shouldn't be fired if we get steamrolled the next 10 games

Really no need to worry about sliding down the list of coaching candidates.

Arkansas is known as a coaching graveyard.

We've worked ourselves into a pickle.  We're gonna have to hock the family jewels and offer a shitload of money to someone.

Somewhere Jeff Long is grinning pretty that he's no longer the most hated AD in our history.

I'd take Bert back in a heartbeat over this.

I dont see any way RS doesn't get 2 years, same as Chad.

After that, we're probably bottoming out and hiring Barry Lunney Jr

You gotta give the guy a couple years. I fear he's about to get an education in what it means to be an SEC coach and we've seen this movie a couple times before and it wasn't pretty.

A successful coaching staff today needs...

A large NIL budget

Great evaluations...be resourceful with your evaluations.  Have pro level personnel dept that functions both for scouting in the present and scouting for the future in lieu of portal opportunity. Somehow I figure we have 20 year old interns doing this if it's happening at all. What exactly does the "GM" do?

Competitive pay for assistants

We gotta be able to pay up for the best head coach we can get.

Fans have to be locked in and willing to help

So out of all those line items I figure we're failing at literally all of them.
"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

There's not even a bright spot on the team to point out and think it's something to build on. Maybe RB but what good is that with no OL

Ray Zorback

There is only one way out of this that I see. It will take football's version of John Tyson to step up, like the guy at Texas Tech. We supposedly spent around 25M on this roster while top teams are spending 40-50M. We have to buy a few teams to get the stench off the program. Then maybe we can drop back to middle of the league type spending.
irritatingly incompetent & infuriatingly unhelpful

Barton Fink

No idea how accurate this is but it shows us 16th in the SEC in NIL.

And he should.
Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

I mean I don't really think we should fire RS, but can we afford to keep him if we win one game?  I mean that represents a new low even in a decade where every other year has a new low.  There have to be consequences right?  And I predict that if that turns out to be the case, we will also lose every game after the Tulsa game by multiple scores without even being competitive in most of them.

They can't, or refuse to, block. They're my biggest disappointment.

This is the worst part and the part he can't escape. Even with bad teams I will watch for SOMETHING. Even when I know we are going to lose.

To see how the offense is developing.
To watch the defense.
To watch a particular guy run the ball.
Or throw the ball.

On this team, there is literally nothing to watch. They're ugly. Every aspect of this team is a 1.5 in a conference of 8s, 9s, and 10s.

That kind of hopelessness is a hard hole to dig out of.

The difference so far between Silverfield and Morris, and it's a small one, is that I think RS literally does have the "no talent" excuse.  Morris didn't have that while losing to Colorado State, North Texas, Western Kentucky, etc.  You can justify an ass kicking by Utah, definitely by Georgia, and for that matter by most SEC teams, and allow some time to build.  Lose to Tulsa en route to 1-11 and you almost have to fire him.

If we lose to Tulsa, it's hard to imagine the team not giving up. 1-11 with a series of blowouts is most likely. Fans will be livid even if HY is canned. Never thought we would dip below the Morris days but it's on the tanle.

I'll say this...we're better off Silverfield getting another year regardless if we don't have an AD in place, or if we do have one and it's the same clown who hired him.

Hindsight is 20/20, and Bielema definitely deserved to be fired when he did, but we should have kept him one more year and let Long's replacement...even if it was Yurachek...make the hire.  No coach with decent options is going to take a job under those circumstances.
