I started to dissociate after the BYU debacle and I'm glad I did, knowing it wasn't going to get any easier.

But that was by far the worst loss of the season and I think it costs Pittman his job.

At no time under Chad did we look like a competent SEC team. I was at his first game in Fort Collins CO and coaching ineptitude was there from Day One. We NEVER looked like an SEC team and things got worse and worse until we were repeatedly getting blown out by rent a wins and he was gone.

So ok.

Pittman came in and we IMMEDIATELY looked like an SEC team. Our heads were not up our asses even when we lost. Immediately light years better than Chad.

And his 2nd year we looked downright good. Arced up from the year before.

Year 3 eye test we trended down and then the Liberty game opened a new portal into hell. Literally on that day we trap doored down into hell.  That game was the turning point of Pittman's HC career.

We've been spiraling down ever since with brief stops on plateaus.  We've not looked good at ANY point this year. Not once.

And today we looked every bit as bad as we ever did under Chad.

I cannot explain this arc.

Meh... it's the Houston Nutt arc if Matt Jones hadn't walked in that door.  Like Ford, Chad actually recruited well he just wasn't coaching very well.  When Sam walked in he had a bunch of talented players who just needed a player's coach to fire them up.  Sam did that and Odom and Briles were competent.  Sam got his money and got lazy.  Odom and Briles left.  Players raised under a player's coach are lazy and undisciplined.

We looked good against the two best teams we played, in their own yards.

Playing down or below the competition. Someone here always talked about how this team would get its ego way out of check after the slightest hint of success.

But this latest turn of events suggests a locker room problem.  The indecisiveness at the top permeates and then all respect is gone. The players read that more than anything else.

So many years in the sec era when we've sucked, we've just simply been outmanned. This team doesn't feel that way from a personnel standpoint. I know our o line is a weak link, but we are in every game. This is 100% coaching.

Everything else that we feared about Sam that hadn't been revealed all came out today.  Putrid.  Total failure.  It wasn't all o line.  When KJ had time he simply Nuke LaLoused it with short hops, int, horrible overthrows.  Enos with arrogant playcalling.  Instead of rolling kj out kept dropping him back.  Stupid qb sneaks as a fuck you to fans.  All summed up by Sam: " I didn't know what to do".   

Everyone has to go.  First Enos.  Run him out of the state.  A lazy inept hire by Sam.  That should cost Sam his job.

We could always go the Notre Dame route when Brian Kelly bailed, and promote the DC to interim HC.  We're not going to look good if we let go of Sam with games left on the schedule; after all, he beat TEXAS and that's what you have to do according to the old people.  Whatever we do needs to happen as soon as the Mizzou game ends.  Go ahead and schedule the presser for the day after, during the Saturday games so it's lost in the shuffle. 

If we're going to fire him, Yurachek needs to get it over with and use that presser to announce the next HC.  If he's going to stay, use that presser to support him and to introduce the next OC.  Maybe let Travis Williams come in and explain all the ass the defense is going to kick next season. 

At a minimum the entire offensive staff has to go.  We aren't excellent at anything on that side of the ball.  We're the opposite of excellent, or worse.  Let Williams decide the future of the S&C coach.

Pittman and Enos are (rightly) catching most of the hell, but Sowders isn't getting nearly enough shit for this shitshow of a team. He was supposed to fix our short yardage and blown lead situations, but they're worse now.

Our OL looks soft, slow, and weak, and consistently can't get a push on down and short situations against inferior opponents.

Our backs are all overweight, notably Rocket who inexplicably ballooned to 242 but also Dominique Johnson who's now 250+ and moves like a 90 year old.

Our receivers (save for Armstrong) can't beat press and can't get separation, and none have breakaway speed.

Our vaunted DL hasn't pissed a drop for much of the season until recently.

I'm not sure I totally believe the toxicity bullshit about our last S&C guy. Something was obviously off last year, but it looks worse this year. We have zero team speed, zero explosiveness, and are getting manhandled on the OL.

Maybe spending all offseason telling the players in the weight room how loved they are was the wrong approach.
