I'm surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit yet challenging the requirements of athletes to adhere to university/college educational requirements. These athletes are being hindered from future development if they have to be away from the sport of their choice by having to attend classes like ordinary students. These athletes are being paid and the requirement to attend classes is affecting their ability to make money.

How about an NIL program where I can contribute $50 a week to a player of my choice. If he half-asses it that week, I can withhold pay. I don't trust Pittman to get max effort out of any of the guys on our roster. Honestly, he should have been fired after Mizzou.

I still think Petrino can coach but if we don't have the personnel I don't think it matters. You can't feed the studs if there are no studs to feed.

The 2010 team had a future NFL player at QB, three WRs who were drafted in the NFL, and two tight ends who were drafted in the NFL. Btw all of those guys with the exception of Mallett were from Arkansas.

what did the 08 and 09 teams have. Because both those years were better than the years before.  

As long as we see progress in the right direction I'll be happy.  It may take three seasons before we are at 9 or 10 wins.

I see this a lot to try to downplay Petrino's success here.

Ask yourself this...suppose Houston Nutt had stayed, and those three WRs would have still signed here (they wouldn't have...but play along).  Do you think those guys would have been drafted?  Development had a whole lot to do with their success, and I think every one of them will tell you that. 

I'm not saying we have any WR with that kind of potential on campus, although Sategna might.  And working for a lame duck head coach means that time isn't on Bobby's side as far as being able to develop what he has.  But I'd be shocked if our receiving corps wasn't markedly improved this year, if for no other reason than the fact that BMFP can scheme WRs open as well as anyone in the game.

I'm more interested in 2010 BP showing up and ensuring they play hard or he'll be in their faces. I need him to beat the quit out of them.

I see what you're saying and I don't totally disagree. But I think that team was the perfect combination of us having a tremendous amount of talent and Petrino knowing exactly how to use those guys. All of those guys were highly rated recruits coming out of high school. I don't see those kinds of skill players on our roster at the moment. Maybe you guys do.

Our route running hasn't been good in a long time.  Burks covered a lot of that with raw ability. 

We all remember the success BP had with Adams, Childs, Wright and Hamilton.  But he also got solid production out of guys like Javontee Herndon and Julian Horton.

It's not even a little bit of a stretch to say that those teams had a better passing game and WR play.  The second best receiver on the 2006-7 teams (probably the best in 07 given Monk's knee) was the fullback.  Which makes sense considering the best passer was the tailback.

The passing game was better in 2008 (shit it really couldn't have been worse from the Nutt years) but that team was still bad. We needed a late td in the season opener to beat Western Illinois, we had to outscore La Monroe 14-3 in the 4th quarter to beat them by 1 point the next week. The following three weeks we scored a combined 31 points against Texas, Bama, and Florida.

People like to talk about how Petrino turned Casey Dick into a serviceable QB which is partially true, but they forget to mention we benched Casey for his little brother midway through the season.

Our offense should be better next season but I think everyone should mentally prepare themselves for Petrino not being the savior everyone seems to think he might be. I don't even think it's his fault he just can't turn chicken shit into chicken salad.
