not one to defend nutt but his last two teams went 10-4, and 9-4. bit of a stretch to say petrino's 08 team was better than that.

I did a shitty job of making a point.  What I was trying to say is the 08 team sucked and would have been bad under Nutt.  BP brought a style that was based on getting better and we saw that through 08 and 09.  

I don't think next years team will be worse than 08 is all I was really trying to type.  

I expect to see something similar if we are willing to be patient.

Our route running hasn't been good in a long time.  Burks covered a lot of that with raw ability. 

We all remember the success BP had with Adams, Childs, Wright and Hamilton.  But he also got solid production out of guys like Javontee Herndon and Julian Horton.

Herndon and Horton had a combined 23 catches for 339 yards in the two seasons they played for BMFP. Not sure I would call that solid production.

Probably more than most would have expected out of them, especially playing behind the guys ahead of them.  Herndon was a 2-star no one heard of until we offered him on signing day.  He ended up playing in the NFL for a while.

Nathan Dick started I think maybe the last few games that year. I don't remember him starting more than a few games. I think that was more so to develop Little Dick as a possible "backup" option...the plan was pretty much by then to have Mallet the next season be the starter. Casey was lighting it up only in a sense that while under Nutt he looked like a entirely different/retard QB and Petrino had him getting the ball down the field...putting up some numbers etc. Was Rhett Lashley on those teams? I can't recall now. I know there was another guy that got a shot...maybe Zak Clark.

I also agree we should probably temper our expectations on Petrino. I do believe and trust he will bring about competency that may ooze into other position groups and phases of the game but on the other hand we are a long way away from having the players in place to really do

I really don't understand how Wally enjoys the position he's in, but he's there and somehow survived.

He's lazy, uninformed, and old. His writing technique is awful, wordy and convoluted. And he's grouchy and unpopular. 

Just because someone has done a job for so long doesn't make them good at it, or that there isn't someone better.

Petrino to Arkansas football is equal to Shoeless Joe Jackson to baseball all time batting averages.

Jackson's BA is so high partly because he didn't get his declining years.

Petrino ranks so high in Arkansas coaching lore because he didn't get to complete the arc that every other coach since Broyles has had at Arkansas.  Petrino's record since then indicates he likely would have.

I hope we get a replay of the first few years of newness.  All we need is 1.
