I usually roll my eyes at shit talking a coach who's out the door, but I'll make an exception for Smith.

Our RBs were horrible last year — maybe the worst in the league — and Smith couldn't adapt from a zone scheme to a gap scheme.

It worked out the last time we hired an assistant's assistant from the NFL so we've got that going for us. This guy does have legit college experience though...coached at Western Ky, Louisville, and Rutgers before jumping to the NFL.

Other than Rutgers he's never landed a RB coaches job without Petrino's help. So this is like Nutt hiring Chris Vaughn or Danny Nutt.
