I like to look at last season even though sure this is a much different team with different guys. Still you get some carry over and you get patterns that develop from year to year regardless of the players on the field.

Last season we started with two weak sisters and looked meh in the first two games against those weaker teams. We followed that up with derping our way to a home loss to BYU in which we looked highly inept in anything remotely attached to offense.

The year before that I believe we looked like world beaters against South Carolina and Cincinnati and followed that up by turding it up for much of the remainder of the season after KJ thought he was superman in Dallas. Recovering somewhat to lay it on BYU on the road. Then falling back to reality that the SEC is just different sauce. Arguably this program thought it was Superman right about the time gravity took over for KJ and we haven't really recovered from that.


Ok are we really better? Yesterday in the first half that OK Lite bunch looked like shit. The QB was throwing shit that would get picked off easily but fucking Vanderbilt. We neutralized their best RB and their WRs looked ok but mainly held back by poor QB play. In the 2nd half that same QB looked much sharper was passing with better velocity on his balls...just all in all looked like a completely different team. Meanwhile we thought we'd won the day going into the locker room and came out sloppy and unfocused. Those are not hallmarks of a Petrino team...that's classic fat boy right there.

There are a lot of things to take away from this game and perhaps if we had a couple daisy's to work out the bugs we could have sustained success going into Stillwater. I believe we looked good but OK Lite looked real bad and sloppy as fuck in the first half. They were still mistake prone we didn't so much as stop them as they stopped themselves with penalties and what not. That game could have gone much differently once they woke up. We didn't wake up fully until it got to 21 ALL. Then Bobby started reducing the sliders on full retard mode and we put some things together. But it wasn't enough to over come the costly mistakes that led to this loss. Learning experience and all that does matter but you have to really learn from it and that means holding people accountable. I don't feel so much like the coaches let us down here...none of what they were doing was so critical that it put this team in a position to lose. The mistakes were on the players on the field...though that gets back to That Pattern of Behavior that I referred to from the beginning of this word salad. After a while if it smells like rotten fish it's probably not a spicy chicken.

Same as Bert's teams. By 2015 or 2016, you could tell that fear of a second half collapse had so infected our team and program culture that it was almost a given in games. I almost remember preferring to be trailing or tied at halftime of big games as opposed to leading. The biggest manifestation of it was the Belk Bowl.

This notion that Sam isn't the one fumbling snaps, putting ball in the turf, or body slamming a ball carrier on 3rd and 10 is completely farcical to me,  because as the leader of this team he created the soft, accountability-less environment conducive for those errors to happening.

Anyone who's led people and teams in any job function in corporate America understands this. When you stop holding people accountable, stop sweating the details, don't lead by example, are too deferential, and don't lead effectively through the tough situations, you start to have quality issues, people start coming in later and leaving earlier, and overall team performance slips.

At the end of the day, this is on Yurachek, who I've wanted gone for years. Not only did he allow this farce to continue after last year threw back the curtain on how poor of a program leader Pittman really is, he's also a front-running coward of a leader. Front and center on Twitter and Hogs+ when we win, AWOL when we lose. Funny how he conveniently disappeared during the Morris years, during the second half of basketball last season, during last year's football season, etc. but was everywhere during 2021, the Elite Eight runs, and in postgame videos after a W. His social media theatrics are tiresome too, and the Muss Bus thing after last season was a forehead slapper, especially in hindsight after Muss left.

This team hasn't been the same since the Aggy loss a couple of seasons ago. They mentally crumble when the pressure is on. That is culture and you can change the players or assistants all you want, but the SS Failboat will continue to sink unless you change the captain. This team has enough talent to have a winning season, but unless the there starts being some accountability from within the team itself, since colbeertits ain't doing it, it will be what it be.

Yes I picked us to lose by 11.  But when you dominate OSU like they did in the first half a good team has to know how to win.  What the fuck did Sam tell them to come out and play careless, stupid, and arrogant. I could give a shit about yardage stats; what matters are turnovers, penalties, special teams.  And we failed miserably because this is what Sam's teams do.  Snatch a loss from victory.

I suspect this year's team will be a lot like the 2014 team coming off the long SEC losing streak.  The difference last Saturday was that Oklahoma State is used to winning, and we're accustomed to losing.  If they can get over the hump against a decent team they are capable of going on a run.
