I'm not really following along but it does seem that the AD has a bit of that "How'd you like me now" kind of thing. 

It probably happens at other places but it does seem like we fans tend to turn the AD of UA into some kind of bulletproof rock star figure so it isn't a huge shock that Broyles, Long, and HY all can't/couldn't wait to jump in front of a camera when things are going well and are nowhere to be found when times are tough. It guess it goes with the territory. 

Broyles certainly cared about winning but toward the end I think he cared a lot more about running his cum dumpster and surrounding himself with yes men.

HY is a bit harder to figure. Better AD than Long. I don't like his smug bullshit Texas act and wish he would be shot out of a canon.

The merger of sports entertainment and sports gambling is not a good thing.

People are always going to gamble and gamble on sports, I get that, but the university doesn't need to be going all in on sports betting, casino money, raffles, and the lottery.  Same with ESPN.

A bunch of 18-22 year old don't need to have it ingrained in them that you enjoy sports by gambling.

He goes AWOL when times are tough (see the entirety of the Morris era), but is out front in every piece of Hogs+ and social content the minute we win anything of substance.

Gambling and betting culture being woven into the fabric of pro and college sports -- especially the latter -- is not a good thing. I think we'll significant ramifications in the medium or long term.

I agree that Broyles embraced the Rockstar status and used it until people like Lindsey and white could started using him to push there own agenda.

I think competing in the SEC wore him down and was happy to just became a figured head while letting White and the PTB run amok.

I agree on Long. He only cared about himself and how he looked to the media and holy than though fans.

Hunter is just a cheerleader and the way college sports is going, he and ADs will be a thing of the past.

*Unless the proceeds are going to a dedicated buyout fund for the football coach, in which case I will buy at least 95 more tickets for the next one than I did this weekend.

it's going primarily to help with the settlement payouts. they CAN be used for nil, but the foundation apparently thinks putting a dent in the $22 million is more of a priority right now from what i have read.

I'll concede that these decisions are being made by people who have access to the Foundation's books while I don't.  But given how they've handled everything over the last twenty years or so I find it hard to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're allocating funds appropriately.

We led Florida 21-17, they had faked a punt and then were stopped at mid field.  Urban Meyer was all out of tricks.  We were going to go back rolling down the field with McFadden, Jones, and Hillis and take over the SEC championship game.  Fish's muffed punt led to us losing.  Without that muff, Houston Nutt would have won our first SEC football championship and probably ends up AD after Broyles.  We would have never gotten rid of Houston Nutt if Fish catches that ball or just lets it bounce into the end zone.

He would have insisted on a stint as AD/HC.  We never would have had those Petrino years.  He wouldn't have hired anyone who ever beat him.

I'll take the Dub and worry about the rest later on. We yammer on about how Nutt might have been AD but the way trends were being set the ex coach types weren't landing those jobs by the early 2000s. With that added street cred...It probably would have avoided the Jeff Long era all together and who knows who would have replaced the old man. Maybe the guy that was at Clemson for a while would have seen it as a better gig.

I was 4 when Hatfield left Arkansas.  If not for those Petrino years, my entire lifetime, at least as a football fan, would have been memories of a bunch of suckage and mediocrity... and 2006 that was also fucked in the end because of more suckage and mediocrity.

In hindsight, knowing that that's what this state and program is going to gladly accept, I wouldn't change anything about the Bert and Chaggie errors as long as I got to enjoy 2009-2011.
