Quote from: HTL on Jul 31, 2025, 01:04 PMThey have more fan support and better recruiting base. Every person in the country would rate their program over ours now.

How are you defining support? Attendance, we're ahead. Revenue, ahead. Just curious. And I think our Branding is better, but captain slapdick yankee AD tried his best to kill it.

As a resident of Missouri since 1993 (residing in Jeff City, KC, and SL) whose wife and son both graduated from Mizzou, I can speak with some authority on this.

Mizzou is a more "fair weather" fan base than ours.  Although, I don't know a lot of young Razorback fans, so perhaps ours has turned this way as well.  When Mizzou is winning-ish like now, people will go to the games and keep up.  Especially since somehow the Cardinals fan base has fallen off the face of a cliff the last 2 years, and they are not drawing for games.

But when they start losing more (not if), no one will care.  No one will anguish.  Perhaps you can change "no one" to "few."  Oh well.  They are what they thought they were.  People will go out to eat instead.  Or CHIEFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSS.  Or Cardinals (if they get better).  The more northern-redneck of the fan base go crazy for the Blues.  I like the Blues myself.

KC is more of a KU town than Mizzou.  The Jayhawks are less than an hour away.  St. Louis probably has more Mizzou alumni than any other city in the nation, but you wouldn't notice it.  Blues and Cardinals reign.

All the Mizzou fans I know think Drinkwitz is Dorkwitz just like we do.  But if he wins he's ok with them.

I have a feeling our "die hard fan base" skews old like us geezers on this board because that dates from when we were more worth following.  So maybe if you survey your average 25-year-old, Mizzou is as well off as Arkansas is, in fan support.

I don't know how we compare in NIL.  I don't even know if any of us knows how we will compare a year from now, when "revenue sharing" will supposedly be the thing.

In basketball it's not even a contest as long as we have coaches like Eddie, Nolan, Muss, or Cal.  Those coaches in between, including one who coached at both schools, don't really move the needle.

Add:

Our facilities are nicer.

At Mizzou, you can't "sit on the rocks" for free. The M made out of rocks in the north end zone is inside the gates. And I don't think you can there (any more), at least.

Wrong.

Oh I forgot, you know people up here.

Yeah. More than you.

Most of NWA doesn't even cheer for the Hogs.

Quote from: HTL on Jul 31, 2025, 01:25 PMYou're wrong. I'm up there all the time. We have far more casuals. NWA is full of transients that would rather mountain bike or spend time exercising rather than watch real sports.

We can keep talking past each other, but if your argument is that the average Missourian or MU alum cares more about Missouri athletics than your average Arkansan or UA alum, regardless of how much time you spend up there you're just plain wrong.  I know a few die hard Mizzou fans (probably half of the them actually - six or so).  They would love to have our fan support.  Most of them know deep down that this success is transitory, even if they won't admit it to your face.

It's a hell of a stupid thing to argue about.  They are kicking our asses in one sport, regardless of which fan base is the most engaged.  It's the frontrunner's answer to assume that the school that is currently in its most successful period ever is the one that has the best chance of success.  It's also foolish to ignore the previous 100 years and assume that will continue forever.

We've been graduating a bunch of Texans that don't care for a while now. Don't discount how uninvested the majority of NWA is. Transient people and a weird bunch generally.

There is still plenty of support up there.  Most of the Texans still care about Hog sports to some degree.

Even with that challenge, it's not like two years of football success is going to convert a generation of alumni who grew up on being last or damn near it in the Big 8.

The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Fact of the matter is that since atm and Missouri joined, they have both owned us. But historically, we had been better and still should be. Since we joined the SEC, we've owned winning records vs 4 or 5 teams. Ole Miss, USC-e, misstake, vandy. I'd argue that all of those teams have better fan support than misery(Cept vandy)and there's no reason we should not at least be .500 or better with both them and ATM.

We literally have a better win% vs Georgia bama and Florida than we do over those clowns . As crazy as that seems.

Barton Fink

The saddest thing to me is this guy is running our offense and we don't want to give him the best chance to succeed because we don't like his boss.

Can't see the forest for the trees....

We haven't beaten Alabama since W was President and Georgia since Obama.

He's still arguably the best OC in the country. He had a mid major talented offense performing as well as anyone in the SEC last year. That includes several missed wide open TDs by Green.

Make whatever comments/excuses you want. Thw guy would win more with better talent.

Exactly and we still have a better win percentage against them than we do miz or atm. It's not like it's been just a few games. We've played both almost every year.

I don't think anyone nationally would have him near the top as far as OCs at this point.

10th in the SEC in scoring in conference play. Plenty of talent on the offense to be better than that.
