Should they be allowed to work at McDonald's for some spending money? Previously, they couldn't. Normal college kids could though.

The new way might not be the best way, but the old way was definitely terrible too.

Why? You pretend they were "amateurs" before NIL. They weren't, but people like coaches and admins like pretending they were as they themselves grew fatter and happier on the backs of those student athletes.

I don't think TC is wrong. 

What I do think is the game has fundamentally changed and I won't be a customer for much longer.  

I hate the NBA game, the atmosphere, and the personalities.  College basket is accelerating toward that and that isn't a good thing.

It was less fair to athletes when they were the only ones in the chain not getting rich off college athletics.

However, it was a better fan experience when teams stayed fairly intact and you could root for team development and the same guys year after year. A kind of semi-pro mercenary pickup team year after year does nothing for me.

In other words it's not paying the athletes that's the problem, it's the yearly unlimited free agency. Even pro leagues don't have that.

Was somebody forcing those student athletes at gunpoint to sign up for the "abuse?" If they didn't want any part of it, they were free to go get a job like the rest of us.

They got a free education, room and board, and they got to walk around campus for four years with everybody worshipping the ground that they walked on. And then if they were good enough, they could go make a living at it after graduation.

Sorry, I'm not buying the "it's not fair" argument. I knew all the "it's not fair," "equity" people were going to ruin college athletics. Now y'all have.

Congratulations, I guess. Enjoy the "equity" of it all.

Players never drove college sports.  Team allegiance did.  And we see that in the way NIL is being used.  Some schools are paying practically anonymous players money to win recruiting battles, build team depth, and so on and so forth. 

Oh, well too late now.  I always feared that Arkansas didn't have the commitment to be good and NIL has certainly proved that so far.
