Not to worry.

It has been well established by stringent scientific investigation that jinxes are governed by a strict power/distance ratio; furthermore, the maximum effective range of a jinx has been verified at 582 miles, 1120 yards, two feet, six inches.

Any jinx I might inadvertently unleash in my present location would die somewhere over western Tennessee.

It's science.

Fair enough. And since I'm farther away, the theory may extend that my mere mention of the word will go into the void.

Former Razorback commit Courtney Crutchfield with TD reception of 67 and 89 yards midway thru the 2nd quarter.

mde114

Crutchfield with a 49 yard reception. Tackled on the one yard line. Obviously, speed is suspect. We didn't want him anyway.

PA beats Marion 27-26  on a 26 yard TD pass as time expired.
Oak Grove in the house.

7A semifinals next week:

Conway at Fayetteville
Bentonville at Bryant

6A semifinals next week:

LR Christian at Benton
PA at Greenwood

5A semifinals next week:

Camden Fairview at Parkview
Shiloh at Pine Bluff

4A quarterfinals next week:

Rivercrest at Arkadelphia
Ozark at Warren

Elkins at CAC
Ashdown at Harding Academy

3A quarterfinals next week:

Booneville at C. Harmony Grove
Junction City at Glen Rose

Mansfield at Salem
Bismarck at Prescott

2A semifinals next week:

Carlisle at EPC
Marked Tree at Bigelow

Note: I would argue that Elkins has its biggest game in school history next week. 12-0 with a chance to go to the semifinals and face likely Harding Academy for a trip to the 4A state finals.

Quote from: Hogfan58 on Oct 28, 2023, 11:46 AMMaybe I'm out of the loop and don't understand how today's HS football works, but how do you recruit HS football players? Do you get them to move to your town or to the part of town that ensures they go to a certain HS? Is that legal?

It's legal as long as they live in the district, but everyone has that Aunt who lives in the "other" district. Sometimes it as simple as that. Enrolling under a fictitious address.

Sometimes its a private vs public debate. For instance when my brother worked for PCSSD, he was the dude who was over the Mills HS project, as well as the baseball/football fields at Robinson. His idea was to "pluck" as many from PA/MSM/Catholic as he could by improving facilities. Every student (back then) was worth 7k in state funding. So the more kids he could pluck from the privates, the more his facilities budget increased for the public schools.

If you build it, they will come, sort of idea.

LR/NLR/Pulaski County allows "minority to majority" transfer. In other words a black athlete can transfer from the LR or NLR school district to Pulaski County without penalty.  It's how Darren McFadden who grew up near LR Central ended up playing at Oak Grove in NW Pulaski county.  It is how Robinson has put together pretty good athletic classes in the past few years.  They also have "magnet schools" for arts and sciences that any student can transfer to.  It is how Parkview ended up with such great basketball teams back in the day.  I think Parkview is no longer a magnet school although they have a great FB team this year ranked overall #1 in some "polls" despite playing in 5A.

Offense can almost pick their score and the starting defense has only been scored on twice (Gravette, Ozark).
On a side note, grandson's season ended last Friday night against Clinton. Surgery on his knee Wednesday, hoping only minor MCL repair.

Hope he fully recovers.  The next team seems to have some offense but their defense is suspect so while it might test the elk D, the offense should put up some big numbers.

If you can defend the pass, Elkins will be fine. Clinton beat CAC in a running vs. passing shoot out. Elkins dominated Clinton.

ELkins barely squeaked past CACH 53-15 and will move on to play Harding Academy in one Semi-Final.

Currently Elkins is ranked #2 in 4A and Harding #1 so it should be a good Matchup and the winner will be favored in the finals.

Kinda sucks that the two best teams were on the same side but oh well.  Likely both teams will score points and it will come down to which team can stop the other.  Elkins has been a scoring juggernaut all year, but certainly haven't played as strong a schedule as Harding.

Southlake has made it to the final #8 again and will likely get a rematch against Byron Nelson.

Fayetteville vs. Bentonville in the 7A.

Like it should be.

All of this is correct. Mills was supposed to be a magnet as well and it never really took off like PV did. People in my family camped out overnight to get them into Parkview when it switched to magnet status.

Central always had an inherent benefit of being the largest by enrollment, offering some courses that would allow intradistrict transfer, etc and getting some of the best parts of town for athletes and wealthy areas and offering better academics. They once benefitted from this, I don't see why they couldn't again.
