You're right.  Dan checked in but the other guy who subbed in with him didnt. I understand the letter of the law/rule, but the other guy didn't so the 2pt conversion got called back.  Chicken shit call.

Still goes back to the first half when Campbell should've kicked a fg after getting stuffed 3 times with 1st and goal. I love his tenacity and toughness, but he flakes out sometimes.

Further.  Add it all up and it's like the old "You Make The Call" segments.

Decker basically said he reported.

Campbell said BOTH reported but "two players can't report." Since the play went to Decker, this would appear to place the blame on Skipper.

Troy & Joe did an overhead shot that they said showed Skipper reporting, but Decker never talking to the refs.

Campbell said that he explained the play to the refs before the game, that Skipper would pretend to check in but Decker would check in. Maybe Skipper fucked up and checked in. Maybe when the refs saw Skipper, they thought he checked in. I think Campbell over-thought it and made it too complicated with too many moving parts.

Unless you very specifically explained before the game that this exact scenario would happen.  Not sure he did, but that would be the only way i would expect the refs to pick up on it.

Here's a good explanation by Ryan Clark. Skipper couldn't be eligible on the play. It had to be the fake reporting that caused confusion.

No. 70 reported and 68 did not.  Therefore, 68 was an ineligible receiver.  In addition 70, after reporting, lined up in his normal position and was covered, making the formation an illegal formation.  Hence, the two flags.

There are judgement calls by the refs on every play ie holding and contact. This isn't a judgement call. You either report and line up properly or you don't. The Lions didnt.

Which is entirely possible too. 

That's the thing about trick plays though, they're real tricky and sometimes they confuse everybody.
