Came to post this.  I'd say that's as official as it gets (without the official press release)... and it hit me right in the feels.  Wish 15 was still alive to see this day.

Listening to the radio this morning and you can tell that Chuck Barrett is pissy about the deal.

I've heard Chuck Barrett many, many times on the radio. He's been talking about the Hogs forever. Why would he not like this move? Is it because he thinks Petrino should be shunned because of his misdeed? I don't agree with Chuck on this at all.

This is a good move. Petrino did a fine job at Arkansas. He succumbed to temptation. But, I am a man, and when I took a look at who Petrino took a shine to, I knew that I would also have been very tempted.

Once a man gets to be a certain age, those young and beautiful women can be dangerously tempting.

I really have to reevaluate my opinion of Pittman and Yuracheck on this deal.

First, this takes a lot of guts for Pittman.  Whatever improvement there might be will be credited to BP and the fanbase will immediately be speculating that BP is gojng to replace Sam and trying to ease Sam out the door.  Even if it is less than successful, the calls for Sam to be fired and for BP to replace him on at least an interim basis will begin in a hurry.

Secondly, Yuracheck has some big old balls to run this up the flagpole with the administration and then get them to buy off on it.  In thinking about it, this almost had to be the plan at least since the decision was made to keep Pittman because it is literally the ONLY hire that would get the fanbase excited and people paying attention next year.  He had to know this was what they were going to do when and gotten the okay on it at least a couple weeks ago.

In the best of all worlds, it's successful, we win at least seven or eight next year and Pittman goes home to the lake next year or the year after a winner and responsible for healing one of the biggest wounds ever to Arkansas football and for righting some of the biggest wrongs.  Bobby then takes over for his real swan song and we get four or five years of magic again.

Who knows if it works that way, but at least we have hope that it could.

Andrew Armstrong seemed excited.  But then again, what WR wouldn't be for the chance to play in that offense?

For someone who was supposedly such a miserable prick to everyone who worked under him, he sure does have a shit ton of former players who are excited as hell to have him back.  Haven't seen one yet who was against it or had anything negative to say.  Even DJ Williams seems to have come around.

I might have been a little hasty.  In listening to him, he is now defending Petrino a little.  I think with the media, even with guys who think good things will happen, there is gong to be a little defensiveness because they have spent the last decade telling people to get over BP because he was gone and never coming back.

If nothing else it shows us that Sam is willing to put his ego aside for the good of the program, for all the reasons you outlined above. 

That's what was always so frustrating about Nutt.  He had a lot of the tools to be a great coach.  The two biggest ones he lacked were organizational skills and humility.
