Not a lawyer, but I DO know about workplace sidepieces and hiring them.  There was nothing illegal about what he did and no lawsuits would have come if we retained him, since firing him didn't change the 'damages' one single bit if they existed.  Most don't know it, but as long as it isn't a workplace culture thing, you can hire your sidepiece to a job position (paramour preference).

I love the shit out of BMFP, especially after the depths we've sunk to, but this is a legit question as to what type of coach he is now.

He's 62 and a grandfather now, and he's been through some shit and been humbled, fired, and relegated to a coordinator role at a school and state he used to own.

I sure as hell hope he still has it. I guess the good thing is that if it doesn't work out, Pittman will be gone this time next year anyway and people can finally shut the fuck up about Petrino.

I believe Will Rogers is in the portal. Drop some of this new money on someone who can actually make a difference and fits his offense.

Do Criswell and/or Singleton not?  I've never seen Singleton take a snap.  The only time I've watched Criswell play play was the Missouri game.  Obviously he didn't set shit on fire but I lay most of that blame at the feet of the o-line.

One thing I like about Petrino is that he adapts his offense around the QB. It doesn't matter if they are a pocket passer or dual threat, they have to make quick decisions and read defenses, things that aren't KJ's strengths. I don't know if Criswell or Singleton is the answer because they haven't done anything at this level. I'd rather get an experienced QB for next season and try to develop or move on from the ones that we have now.

Anyway does Petrino get to pick his own staff on the offense? How much control is he given? Those are the looming questions in my mind. Why give him the keys if you aren't going to allow him to provide the ole Italian tune-up?

I can certainly see Sam Pittman being on board with this...I can't imagine HY jamming Petrino in on Pittman akin to what A&M did to Jimbo.

I feel like this was something kicked around last season and for whatever reason it just didn't happen. Petrino took the UNLV gig and then was offered the OC job at A&M a week or three after that. Briles playing hanky during this process and then leaving us hanging in mid-jan may have fucked it up for us getting the band back together sooner. Anyway it seems there was some relationships formed between Odom, Pittman, and Petrino during that game with Missouri State. I think Odom and Pittman came away really impressed by what Petrino was able to do against them with the talent he had to work with. I should finish that by saying both Odom and Pittman over inflated their teams abilities then and again this season with Pittman thinking he had a 9+ win team giddy about his defensive line being so dominant never thinking oh fuq my O line is hot garbage.

That being said this is clearly turning into a retirement gig for coaches. We aren't a serious university about football. Arkansas football is a place for coaches to go to get free money until they are fired but who cares if BMFP can breathe some life into this shit before he's done coaching then so be it. One thing about it..the fans don't give a fuck anymore they'll turn in a hurry if the product on the field is shit. Don't matter if it's BP or Urban Meyer or Bill Walsh...fuck around and you'll get people swearing they are done.

With kids today I don't think they see Petrino the same way we older fellers do. The quarterbacks almost certainly know about him but the other offensive dudes may not. He doesn't have that kind of clout and never really was a super good recruiter. He doesn't even want to recruit probably. He's going to take what he's given to work with and try to jam it up some asses in the next few years before he's done.

Agreed.  A freshman next year would have been 5 or 6 when Petrino was last here.  I don't think his name itself is the draw anymore, at least for now, it's what he can get out of the players he's given to work with.

So I guess we'll see how serious we are about this NIL set up.
