Have on Bazzel and Nutt this morning on 103.7.  Bazzel said to Nutt is it true that Petrino is the last coach to win 11 games here since Holtz.

Lolzzzzzzz.  Nutt was choking on it this morning and I was there for it.

Meanwhile Ferret Top was tweeting this shit before the Petrino news broke yesterday.

Quote from: DirkPiggler on Nov 29, 2023, 08:39 AMAndrew Armstrong seemed excited.  But then again, what WR wouldn't be for the chance to play in that offense?

For someone who was supposedly such a miserable prick to everyone who worked under him, he sure does have a shit ton of former players who are excited as hell to have him back.  Haven't seen one yet who was against it or had anything negative to say.  Even DJ Williams seems to have come around.

Because being older they realize how good he was, how much he made them better, and how much fun they were actually having while winning.

That bitch needs to be exiled from the state.

We should run the program like a cruise ship.  Let Pittman do all the gladhanding and sit at the captain's table dinners and let Petrino make sure the ship doesn't run into things.

I was for Petrino getting fired for lying to his boss but I am also very much in favor of him in this job now.  He has done his wandering in the desert and the boss he lied to is no longer here.  I would not have cared about the affair if he had come clean about it immediately.

I like the idea of "redemption arc" that Pumpkin I believe mentioned.  That was my first thought.

This is either going to work or we were going to be cleaning house at the end of next season anyway.  I hope Pittman knows enough to turn him loose and lean on him a lot for advice in private.
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

Fuck the Stadium Shoppe, it's a two-bit wannabe hog store with offbrand bullshit and lame ass Tommy BAHAMAa wares. THe only reason the ferret plugged that place is because he's related to one of the bitch owners. And what kind of dipshit spells 'shop' with an extra P and E?

AND THANK YOU TO HUNTER Y and ANYONE ELSE THAT MADE THIS HIRE HAPPEN. Finally, some genuine optimism to be had.

Quote from: joebobhog on Nov 29, 2023, 08:35 AMany feedback from the players on the BMFP hire?
I haven't heard anything on that yet.

I do know that Pittman was pissed that word got out Sunday that Marion and Faulkner turned us down within a couple hours of us sending an offer over. He felt it made him look bad. Supposedly an agent has been contacting Sam to express BMFP's interest in the job since Jimbo was fired at A&M. Sam was hesitant to move forward with mutual interest from BMFP for weeks (no idea why) until Sunday afternoon and into Monday.

Pittman is very aware off what is said about him publicly. He is very insecure. His wife is on twitter all day reading the negative things said about Pittman on twitter and let's him know about what is said. They are obsessed with that.

So BMFP is 2/2 for having to lobby for a job at Arkansas.

After the good vibes settle down a bit, she should probably stay off for the rest of Sam's tenure then.  It's going to be easy to forget he is head coach.

First thought I had too.

We whiffed on Jimmy Johnson, Tommy Tubberville, Butch Davis, Mike Norvell, and more.

Bobby's the one stone cold killer who actively sought the job...twice!

Our HS baseball coach was a former Ole Miss Dlineman about 6-4, 250. He was a hard ass disciplinarian. We hated him during our playing days but years later everyone of us have respect for what he instilled in us, not only baseball but life skills. Sometimes it's hard to recognize it in the moment.

Pittman knows this is it for him. Either the season is a success or it isn't. If it isn't, there will be no excuses he can make that will save his job.

He has no reason NOT to just hand the reins of the offense over to Bobby. He's playing with house money. If Bobby succeeds, Pittman gets another year. If Bobby fails, Pittman is gone.

In all but title and the occasional camera shot on the sideline, we HAVE hired a new head coach.

I think we know why Sam was hesitant. He has to know after the first sign of trouble a majority of the fanbase is going to yell for him to be fired and for Petrino to be named head coach.

If Bobby ever had a desire to redeem himself, it's now. Not at L'ville #2, not at Springfield, not at College Station, but F'ville #2. If I was in his shoes and wanted to leave a legacy for my coaching son Inlaw and grandkids, it's now. He'll give 100% to get back on top.

His plan should be A couple of successful years at OC, slide into HC job, bring his son in law in as staff and win some games. He can be a hero.

I still think Long knew everything that happened from the beginning. He knew about the side piece. He knew she was on the bike. It was framed that Bobby lied to him. I don't think he lied, except to the fans, media, and his wife.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sam tried to hire him to replace Kendall, but it got squashed.

It'll be a fun ride.

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Nov 29, 2023, 08:41 AMI might have been a little hasty.  In listening to him, he is now defending Petrino a little.

As the Voice of the Razorbacks, I am sure he has no choice at this point.

Thanks again for those who put this place together. With this excitement we all have now, I'm glad woopig lives on and we have a place to discuss.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall the first time an O lineman is told to go to the whiteboard and diagram blocking assignments against particular defensive sets and stunts.

If Long didn't know about it, he should have been fired for lack of institutional control (assuming what Bobby did was a fireable offense, which I do not believe).  Long signed off on the hire knowing fully well that Dorrell didn't meet the posted qualifications, which was another reason I maintained that the lawsuit angle was bullshit.

The bottom line is that Long didn't like being second fiddle in his own band.  The first chance he got to get rid of the star and move into first chair, he took it, without regard to how it would affect the health of the program long term.  A rational AD would have found an appropriate punishment short of firing, taken the brief hit from a media possessing only short-term memory, and ultimately preserved our football program as opposed to killing it.  And a normal SEC AD would have buried the shit and made sure it never saw the light of day.
