The guy doesn't really seem like an insider to me, he's just sharing some details after the fact instead of the "I was right but things changed" crowd.

Sam doesn't exactly seem like the 4D chess guy.  I'll say it again, if the story that Bobby was the guy the whole time is true then Sam would have answered Biddy on Friday with, "We're announcing the new OC on Sunday, ask again then."  It wouldn't have been "I don't know"

petrino wasn't officially let go until yesterday, so pittman couldn't have said something even if he had a feeling bp was getting canned. a lot of aggie fans thought he'd be retained.

we won't know what really happened for probably another couple of years and then mike irwin will let everyone know he was told something.

I think they had it worked out for a little bit.  That is what triggered the NIL donations and stuff.  This also would have taken pretty substantial vetting beforehand.  I don't even think they would have entertained talking to him very much without first taking it up through the chain to make sure they could hire him.  And I also think he was coming regardless of what happened at A&M.

This might be the best scenario we could hope for.  We get teh Petrion, and we also get to keep classic uniforms.

Petrino's main shortcoming here to me was his love of CFL type uniforms.
