Literally everyone, both on and off this board, were praising the Cal hire.

I believe even the Wiopig CFO was saying "We're so fucking back!"

The hire wasn't some Yuri issue.  What he does going forward will be though.

Don't know that I would say that. I was somewhat optimistic that maybe this was going to be a new challenge for him and it would get the juices flowing. I'm not hitting the panic button yet. I think with these transfers what we've seen from both Muss and now Cal is it can be a real bugger when it goes wrong. You can't have two of your "experienced" high money transfers end up being complete duds and nothing at the end of the bench that could be confused for an option.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Son of Spam

I will give him a pass this year as he had to damn near recruit a whole team from scratch. Next year, results need to be shown.
Well, shit...

That's not really true though. This is more or less the same team he would have had at Kentucky this season.

Same here. This year is a wash IMO. Next year will be a complete 180 and we'll damn good.

There is no chance Kentucky would be this bad had he and these players stayed at Kentucky.

With each passing day I'm more convinced that we are a cursed fan base.

I believe bof a deez points.
The same people demanding everyone embrace your beliefs, have zero tolerance and condemn another for embracing theirs.  Oh, the irony.

Maybe not worse but we have a better win/loss record than Kentucky over the last five seasons. We hired a coach who always did less with more for the most part and his best days are way behind him.

Acuff seems like more of a distributor than Boogie. If he and Thomas live up to the hype we should at least be decent.

He needs to kill it in the portal recruiting big men. And when I say kill it I mean much better evaluations and signing 10-11 legit players. He also needs to shake up his staff and bring back his offensive guru who RUNNOFT to the west coast.

This team is Exhibit A against the argument that NIL funding is the determining factor in winning. Without superior, or at least competent, coaching it doesn't mean shit.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

I think getting the offensive guru (John Welch, who is at Fresno now) or getting any kind of specialized offensive assistant is the most important thing. That's the only way I'm buying back in at this point. Cal can't coach and no one on this staff can either.

So did Kentucky and with less "talent".

Completely different in basketball than football. Far more parity and 1 or 2 players make a significant impact. You don't see upsets in football like basketball either.

Coaches matter but you better have equal level talent.

KY went older. They have 1 freshman that is lucky to see 10 mins a game.

Do you think LSU and Mizzou had equal talent?

Comparable talent is required.  Not necessarily equal.

Fland will start more NBA games on his rookie contract than the entire LSU and Missouri rosters combined will spend on an active roster in their careers.

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Fland is currently preparing for the "work load management" part of that NBA career.

Best of luck, Boogie!

There is a far less talent gap in basketball than football. Even before the transfer portal you had teams like George Mason make a final four. You will never see that in football. Damn near every team in D1 basketball has someone good enough to play for Arkansas.

Mizz has talent. Bates is very good and Mitchell was a 5* that everyone wanted out of HS. Grill is older than some posters on this board. Mizz went 0-18 in conference last year and are 4-1 now. What changed? They got better talent.

LSU less so but they had by far the best player on the floor in Carr. Collins was a 5* that Muss wanted that ended up at KY.
