it's almost like your best ball handler isn't supposed to have the ball in his hands.

fland playing has no downside. if his game is back, he'll be nothing but an asset. if it's not, he'll sit.

If nothing else, he is an extra (and talented) body and can spell DJ. Had we gone to OT against Ole Miss we would have either finished the game with walkons or played 4 guys.

Well, I'm not going to search my hundreds of posts to find it and I don't even know how to find it anyway, but I remember making the point when Boogie was playing and we were losing, that it's not a good setup to have your point guard be your leading scorer and most frequent shooter. PG should be the distributor and facilitator.

It's the exact opposite of an awful take. It's a take that's been proven correct by subsequent events.

So by any metric other than winning games Boogie Fland was just super. Basically Allen Iverson without the winning. Got it.

All that being said sure I understand the dynamics of the team wasn't in shape, some dudes hurt, we've basically played hurt for most of the season and are still hurt. The only way this team "gels" is if we go on a six game winning streak to end the season. :stache:

PG should be a distributor and facilitator...he was on pace to have the best assist seasons in school history with guys around him  shooting poorly. His assist to TO is almost 4 which would be top 3 in school history.

Point guards today are both distributors and scorers. I thought he balanced both very well. Took over when needed. Distributed when needed.

Quick check.... Boogie's apg is tied for 5th highest in schoold history

Kareem had 1 season with 6.64
Jabril Durham had 1 season with 6.38
Lee had 1 season with 5.94
Fortson had 1 season with 5.93

Without him, we don't win a lot of those early games. Ever dissing him was stupid. He needs to get bigger(and will since he's just 18), but he's got the complete game.

Agree.  I don't recall anyone complaining he is/was a ball hog.

There were so many things to complain about I don't know how anyone would ever get to that level of observation.

It was SMH and the mouse in his pocket, I guess.

Several NBA point guards would like a word with you.

I do think this is a reasonable take.

A PG averaging 15 pts and 6 apg shooting better than any guard on the roster (at the time), taking 13 shots a game is considered a ball hog. That's a reasonable take?

Scoreboard.

Scoreboard is a colloquial way to say "the results speak for themselves."

Also, I never said ball hog, and I never blamed Boogie. If anything, it was a criticism of coaches for setting up our team where the leading scorer was also the PG. Not his fault, but not optimal.

As the scoreboard shows.

Seriously, who doesn't want the best player on our team to come back? Please post now. Not when we happen to lose.

That's not what I was agreeing with.

We have issues if our point guard is the leading shot taker.

That's the rub.  If bringing the best player back means we lose whatever we found that wins games, I'll pass.

I want him to come back. We desperately need players. And he's a good one.

I want him to be used differently than how he was used before he got hurt.

Yes you did.

We were losing games because Davis was taking < 5 shots in 30 mins. He was shooting under 30%. Big Z played like a baby pillow. Aidoo was nowhere to be found. Knox was shooting 28% and 15% from 3. Thiero and Boogie were the only consistent contributors but that is where you want to lay blame? To one of the 2 guys that didn't play poorly.

It's a poor take and a simple excuse.

What about Sears with Bama last year? Walter Clayton? Josh Hubbard?  We made an elite 8 with Notae at PG.

Pro's Ja, Curry, SGA are all scoring PG's on teams that have success.

Why is that an issue? I honestly think it's a plus.
