Using that logic, is any strikeout of one of our hitters worth celebrating?

not really

Eh, it's one game. All sickness is not death. We have some more tough road series coming up. Maybe the bats will wake up. But, if that happens, with our luck, our three starters will go down with TJ surgery.
Well, shit...

#183
Top 9th.

Stovall says FUCK YO COUCH LINDSEY GRAHAM!  Oppo bomb into the Hogs' bullpen.  He's had a nice day in the middle of a world of shit (Stovall, not Graham).  6-3 SC.

McLaughlin grounds out weakly to 2nd. 1 out.

Aloy lines one off the cocky dickhead pitcher.  Infield hit.  Runner on 1st, 1 out.

Diggs singles to CF.  Aloy to 2nd.  Runners 1st and 2nd, 1 out.

Wagner singles to LF.  Bases loaded, 1 out.  BEER HATS ENGAGED!

Holt grounds back to the pitcher.  Force at home, safe at 1st.  Bases loaded, 2 outs.  BEER HATS REMAIN ENGAGED!

Jones strikes out swinging at some absolute dogshit.  3 outs.

Shamecocks win game one, 6-3.

Someone else will have to take game two.

Page 2 for batting and see where we rank.

Something's gotta give.

Yeah. And some perspective for those who may instinctively believe our pitching makes up for it in a big way (as I did before looking)...

3 of the top 4 in runs scored are also 3 of the top 4 in fewest runs allowed. Hint: it's the other three teams surrounding us in the national rankings.

Once again we don't piss a drop at the plate with RISP

Doc Hogaday

14 & 13 LOB in the last 2 games, respectively.
Pants ironed and back for more

Barton Fink

Jones has been a tremendous disappointment.

Cardiac Hog

In Jones' defense, called strike 1 was low and away, called strike 2 was low.
I'm ready for the automated strike zone that MiLB is testing out in Triple A

Some positives heading into the second game.

We did hit a lot of balls hard in this one.  Most were at someone or, in the case of Holt's single off the wall, a few inches from doing real damage.

The team didn't quit.

We were able to get through the first two games without using McEntire.  Still have Foutch available, maybe even Gaeckle for a batter or two, and of course Hewlett for a lefty.

SC used their Friday guy today to dodge Smith, and pitched their closer for over three innings.  We should have the advantage there.

Get two out of three and you leave happy anytime you're on the road in the SEC.

Very Rick Schaeffer.

And that's not meant as an insult. There was a time he was appropriately optimistic.

It would certainly feel worse if we weren't getting guys on base. The LOB stat is usually good and bad.

I would be a lot more concerned if we were hitting a lot of dribblers and infield pop ups.  Even Diggs hit a couple fairly hard today.

It may not translate into a win this afternoon, but we aren't as lost as our stats would lead one to believe.

Hizog

We're averaging 3.1 runs per game away from Baum. That's really putting a lot of pressure on the pitchers.

Barton Fink

Per Phil, we're hitting .184 away from Baum.

Lineup for game 3

Legit don't understand Diggs at cleanup (or in the lineup at all), Rowland over Helfrick, and Wagner at DH.

We better lock up a top 8 seed because this team can't win away from Baum.
