It's a matter of history.  His ethnicity is English.  His nationality is British.  But protestants in Northern Ireland are English.  That's why they are hated by the natives...or were until quite recently.

Not a good idea from a liability standpoint.  I have defended a couple of those security cases where the watering hole's bouncer beat the shit out of the drunk guy.  Not easy to defend.
