They fired Joe Moorhead after he went 8-5 and 6-7.

Meanwhile, we're talking about 6-6 or even 5-7 being good enough to save Pittman's job after 3 consecutive bad years.

We need to face facts that State is a better program than we are now. Better recent history, higher expectations, better recruiting footprint, and better recent coaching hires (Mullen > Bert, Moorhead > Chad, Leach > Pittman).

3 coaches in 3 years is never good for a program, but Lebby was a pretty good hire and will have them in a decent spot soon enough.

They're playing better than their record and seem to be getting better each week. They'll probably beat us, which isn't anything to brag about anymore, especially with Pittman at the wheel.

Like A&M and Mizzou, State has also owned our asses as of late.

They've won 9 of the last 12 against us, and they've done it with 4 different coaches.

Well, at the very least, no worse than keeping a fat underachiever is working out for us.

But Pittman, with the exception of year two with Texas a couple others, and Tennessee this year it seems like we ALWAYS play bad at home.  And it's bad because we play well enough on the road in close losses against superior teams or win to get our hopes up, and then we just come out and shit the bed at home. 

So like you, it just isn't worth it anymore to go through all the hassle of one of the longest four hour drives on earth, the expense, the hangovers, the feeling like you have a hangover even if you didn't drink, and everything else else just to see us dependably put out one of the worst efforts of the year.  Whether it's underestimating and failing to prepare for a Liberty or UAB, or pissing down our legs against LSU, count me out.  I'm not even going to plan my Saturdays around watching them on TV anymore.  I'm deer hunting, playing golf, cleaning my garage...whatever.  I'll turn on the TV and check from time to time.  But fuck Sam Pittman.

Quite literally the only time firing a coach for losing has backfired on us was firing Bert, and that was only because our boosters sold out to get Gus and got pantsed by him and Sexton and went with the laziest hire imaginable instead of reopening the search.

- Nutt was an upgrade from Ford
- Petrino was an upgrade from Nutt
- Pittman was an upgrade from Morris (granted, the bar was on the floor)
- almost anyone will be an upgrade over Pittman

I'm not even going to plan my Saturdays around watching them on TV anymore.  I'm deer hunting, playing golf, cleaning my garage...whatever.

We went on a 7 night, Saturday-to-Saturday cruise over Thanksgiving week last year, so I missed the last two games of the season.

Not only did I not watch the last two games, including the Mizzou embarrassment, I couldn't even check scores or get on here.

It was amazing.

I'm at the point where I almost want to just punt the football program.  Keep Sam until his contract runs out, and replace him with someone else who will work cheap.  Send the NIL to basketball and baseball, and funnel any extra windfalls from the media rights deal to those sports for facility improvements and the like.  Spend the money to be elite in the sports where we are willing and able to compete for championships, and ignore the one where we either can't or won't do what is needed to succeed.

Before the Tennessee game I actually heard from a friend whose wife is work buddies with someone who is best friends with Pittman's wife that he bad been told that he was out if he lost to Tennessee.  I know my friend wasn't lying about what he and his wife had been told, but I don't know the lady who claims to be friends with Sam's wife.  So, I can't judge it that well.

She also said Sam was pretty much ready to go anyway.  Losing to Tennessee wouldn't have put him below .500 and reduced his buyout, so maybe the will to move on is there.  So, obviously Tennessee bought him some time, but his highly anticipated shit show this weekend may have made MSU a make or break game for him. 

That's about all the hope I have for this team and season.
