Gaeckle has been tagged a few times, and Root got lit up yesterday. I know it's early but Root has a 4.44 ERA and Gaeckle is at 6.16.

And we will have a maddening plate approach. Souza struck out on 3 pitches twice yesterday, and Diggs is still doing Diggs things watching meatballs and then swinging at junk in the dirt.

And dove at flies there we were nowhere near. I think Root is one of our better pitchers, in spite of yesterday. It just wasn't our day and we had a lot of crap go against us. Agreed. OFs diving for fly balls they had no chance at and Iredale having 2 errors in a row hurt bigly. Our defense just never seemed to make a play when it was needed, on top of their hits just finding holes. Even the homer wasn't exactly crushed.

Kozeal should replace Souza. He just doesn't have it at the plate. And I still don't know what to do with Diggs.

Famous last words, but I think Souza is cooked. He looks like there's been zero progression from last year where he was abysmal in the back half of the season. Still has a terrible plate approach and swings over everything.

Diggs is Slavens 2.0. He just is who he is at this point. He has good power but is a true 3 outcome hitter who watches meatballs down Broadway and then swings at dirtballs and can't hit low and away.  Even Bubba was saying on the radio one time about how a guy is either a first pitch taker or swinger, and you largely can't coach them out if it. Thus Diggs starts out seemingly every count down 0-1.
