Fuck Gruden.  Never coached college.  Been out too long.  Too much baggage to overcome with black recruits.

We need young blood that understands social media, nil, recruiting, etc.

Agree. Take your chance with petrino before you do that.

Igniting the fanbase, hiring coaches, and NIL are what makes a good coach now days.  Gruden could do that.   See Deon at Colorado.

I'd reserve judgement on Lea until we see how he does without Pavia and, particularly, Jerry Kill.

Exactly. I should've clarified that. I could see the Gators getting him.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Precisely why people need to stop saying Gruden's name and never mention it again.

The GOAT NFL coach is getting absolutely rinsed at UNC. This is a completely different football environment with innovative offenses, unrestricted transfers and NIL. Gruden would be nothing more than a showy hire to win the press conference and publicity, which does not matter on the field.

We need a young, offensive-minded coach who can recruit the portal.

Not to mention the GOAT doesn't have a Tom Brady on the roster.  The guy is a fraud on the NFL level and now NC is paying the price for the deception.  No thanks.

I woke up this morning hoping for the best.  But nothing.

Honestly, they keep Sam or fire him, I don't think I care anymore.  I genuinely think I've hit the point of no return from a fan perspective.

I woke up kind of the same way.  How does this guy still have a job this morning? lol

I understood your early optimism on this team. However, after 4 games, I understand how you now feel. This year is already over. All we can hope for is better times yet to come. But, not his year.
Well, shit...

The Whyte Boar

One thing I don't think HY and those guys understand is that you can't be a 6 or 7 win team in the SEC.  If you shoot for that, you're gonna be a three or four win team.  In the SEC the 6 or 7 are good teams that suffered injuries or underachieved.

You can't put a program on cruise control and expect anything but disaster.  Saying stupid shit like HY said last week is a recipe for a two win season if actually put into practice.

HOGSRUNWILD

The only, and I mean ONLY way I would feel any optimism for this year is they fire Sam and install Petrino as interim for the rest of the year assuming he would take it.  That is the only way I think we could make anything of the year.  He knows the players on offense obviously and likely knows the players on defense better than Sam does as well.  You think he doesn't take note of who is playing hard and who isn't while he is up in the booth?  He likely knows what we SHOULD do on defense, whether they welcome or take his input or not right now.

Bringing in someone new mid-year unless it is the long-term coach would be a disaster.  Promote him and see what he can do.  If it looks like 2009, give the man a shot to have his 2010/2011 again.  If it doesn't look like has what it takes to be a HC, then start the prep to hire a permanent coach in the offseason and thank him for his contributions while allowing him to apply for the OC position with the new staff if he wants.

No joke, with him as HC this year and the same exact defensive players running a slightly different scheme (not the same shit that got roasted against Ole Miss last year too) but playing HARD instead of loafing and we are 4-0 and likely ranked coming out of this week. Same players.  No NIL excuses, nothing, and we are 4-0 and you all know it with the same players.

BleedinRed

I don't think keeping or firing Sam does anything for this season.  We are not hiring BP again and honestly I don't think I want him as the head coach.  Keeping Sam until the end of the season doesn't hurt the program any more than what has already been done. We are literally rock bottom in the SEC.  We can't sink any lower.

Focus now on who the next head coach will be.

Gruden would not be a good hire for anyone in college. His offense is archaic.

He needs to be fired for Arkansas to have any self respect.  Not firing him and just sitting back is a loser attitude and not one that would go at a serious football program.

I don't agree.  Keeping same disenfranchises more and more fans and once they are gone, they are hard to get back.  Sure, they might casually watch again, but those aren't the ones that give the $$ you need.

I hear what you're saying and see the validity.

My point is that if they fire Sam today, all that does is make Arkansas fans feel better.  It doesn't do shit to elevate the program off the bottom.  Whoever we hire as the next coach will do that.

Unless we change the AD, I'm not sure even a new coach can help.
