I'd be ok with either. Someone younger.

Sumrall has a KY connection if their job comes available.

So far you have openings for:
Virginia Tech
Okie Lite

Other likely openings...
Us
FL
KY

Feels like I'm missing someone

stoops would be owed $40 million if he were fired after this season, due in 60 days. not sure kentucky would spend that much on a football coach.

napier would be owed about $22 mil, kinda doable for florida.

freeze would be owed about $16.2 mil, doable for auburn.

lunney runs bert's offense, and not too well. going into today ranked 63rd in total offense, 118th in rushing.
He was way too cocky for his talent level as a player and I can't imagine that attitude has changed. Plus, my first thought of Lunney is him making that perfect option pitch to Floridas LB at the 3 yard line. He's got the stench of another bad football era on him. No to Lunney.

Sam's contract... Could have been a lot worse I guess.

I like to think we've been building a war chest for when it's ready to make a move, but I'm not holding my breath.

I mean, I thought that was the idea in getting Sam. Stabilize the program and buy time.

By giving him an insane buyout after he had ONE 9 win season?  That looks more like sabotage than it does stabilize.

vegashog

look around at the buyouts for coaches that are on or near the hotseat, it could be a lot worse.

not defending yurachek, but it's not that bad when you have a little context.

If the buyout money itself wasn't enough, the horribly low performance bar to reduce it was absolutely criminal.

I don't disagree, like I said it's wishful thinking that's the strategy for football going forward

But to Vegas point, that seems to be the market for contracts of SEC head coaches

Ideal situation would have had Sam retiring last year. We were mediocre, but made a bowl. Sam had health issues. Accept a lower buyout and retire due to health issues.

Care to explain your 'context' a bit more? Sure, SP's buyout is lower than say Freeze's, but we're in year 6 of this experiment that should've been over after year 4, and it's still over $9mm. For context, what's Freeze's buyout after year 4?

This is how you gauge how retarded Yuracheck is.  Dude is a grade A retard.  He is not good at his job.
I'm on smoko, so leave me alone.

Sam had his chance to retire with a little less money the last two years.  I want him fired and humiliated.  He deserves NOTHING.

Agreed, make that greedy fat slob litigate to get what he's "entitled" to.

There was no market for Sam Pittman. We took a flier on him because no one else wanted the job. That was the market we faced. So what did HY do? Gave him a raise and a stupid buyout after a single 9 win season. Lets not pretend we were competing with the market. No one was coming after Sam Pittman.

freezes is $7.3 after year 4. gundy signed a deal late last year and got $15 million for going 4-12 since last season.

I don't see the utility in automatically rolling over contracts anymore.  Used to you always wanted your coach to have at least a five year contract for recruiting.  You wanted to be able to tell a kid that you would be there for all four or five years.  That no longer applies in the age of unrestricted transfers and the portal.

Sam: "This will be my last job."

HY: "Cool, here's a raise."

Sam: "I mean it now, whether I get fired or retire first I won't coach anywhere after I leave this place.  Cobeer and a lake are calling my name."

HY: "Alright, you got my balls in a salad shooter here... here's a big buyout too."

Sam: ".... I'm not the dumbest person in this room, am I?"
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Freeze's is 7.3 after year 4, and Pittmans after year 4 was what, 12? One with ZERO HC experience and a single 9 win season, and the other was coming off some good seasons at Liberty as a HC and had previous SEC HC experience.

Looks like HY had no fucking clue what "the market" was.
