Sounds like to me the network was looking for a reason.  One DWI case with no wreck or injuries usually wouldn't lead to dismissal of someone you want to keep.  (Yes, I know the obvious parallels and the dead horse).

They paid him for 26, so he's ok. On top of what Jerry paid him.  He wasn't fired, it was negotiated, so he probably got at least another year. 

CBS supposedly was not pleased with Tony's work habits the past couple years.  As he's been away from the game his predictive powers have eroded.  I think the networks are looking to cut talent costs further; espn extended Joe Buck but has not done so with Troy.
