If revenue is the driving factor, then the SEC should probably go after Notre Dame and UNC. Large regional markets and both draw a national audience as well.

This scramble for tv money is possibly a fools errand when you consider that networks such as ESPN are losing money so much so that Disney is looking to sell off ESPN. I assume there are other players entering the market...namely on the streaming end.

Your legacy television services such as Comcast, Dish, and Direct are shrinking. Even a lot of the upstart cordcutter streaming services are having issues retaining subscribers. The vast majority of motives for cordcutters is the freedom to avoid paying for regional sports networks.

Which brings me to why the musical chairs? I can see why the Big 12 is doing it out of survival. Once the dominoes fell it was a matter of time before one league got hit the hardest an it ended up being the PAC12 an not the Big 12. At the end of the day you are still going to have areas where the tv markets are evidently weak and not perceived to have as much value as say the SEC markets or legacy Big 10, ACC etc.

I don't think they will. Neither school's fan base is particularly supportive. I see trips to Boise and having to rub shoulders with the poors, in their future.

I saw an article somewhere that argued we are about to enter a College Football television bubble. There is too much football and not enough dollars to go around to make the SEC and Big 10 happy. A College Football Program needs to bring eyeballs or settle for pittance to be on TV. Tim Brando said the other day that Washington and Oregon learned a tough lesson; their programs aren't worth as much without UCLA and USC. From what I gathered Oregon and Washington are only going to be partial partners with the Big 10 and will not receive full pay outs until the next round of TV negotiations. Makes me think the SEC is maybe fine with the 16 it has now and doesn't want to bloat the conference just to keep up with the Big 10.

I saw this one and chuckled.

"It is a collective effort. I've been calling the plays in practice, and I will do that," Petrino said when asked Sunday. "A lot of times, the calls are made throughout the week."

I think they have all now said academics don't mean shit.  I think it's funny these pompous assholes who could have dictated terms to preserve the pac ended up alone.  Fuck Berkeley and Stanford.  Too bad Oregon stare and wash state got left out but they don't deliver shit when it comes to eyeballs and they are hard to get to.

The conferences living in four time zones will be challenged.  The non rev sports athletes are getting really fucked.  I'd prefer the sec stand pat to see where this shakes out.

I completely disagree. I bet we see a Petrino-like offense replace the A&M bumblefuck of the last few years.

I agree, with Petrino just focusing on offense and with that talent it should be scary as hell but he still has to beat an Alabama defense for the first time.
Surely Jimbo is smart enough to let Bobby do his thing and not frick it up but then does Bobby still have it?

Check your damn blood pressure!

In my view, it could go either way.  An implosion, or the best offense we have seen in the SEC in years.  Just hope Jimbo finds a way to fuck it up.

They're going to find a way to fuck it up.  That's what Aggies do.

Petrino didn't exactly set the world on fire as Auburn's OC way back when.   He probably had comparable talent to what he will have at A&M this year.

That was under Tuberville and comparably speaking that was caveman days. Petrino's play calling is excellent...but his offense has mainly become garden variety by today's standards. Jimbo's offense went past garden variety to dinosaur years ago. Still yet those are two pretty dang good minds on offense and I wouldn't put it past either to have a 3rd or 4th act to their careers. I expect a balanced attack if they have any kind of running game and I figure they'll have talent in the backfield. The only weakness I've ever seen from any Petrino team is the lack of protection of the quarterback. A&M's QB's over the last few years have been getting killed so hopefully that won't change.

Jimbo seems like the kind of dipshit that will override a perfectly setup Cowboy Get'Em on 4th and 1 in favor of a handoff up the middle.  I hope he does and we get to watch Bobby murder him on the sidelines.

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Now the ACC is having discussions about adding Cal and Stanford. At least the SEC kept it all in the south-ish.
