It is accurate but not causative.

We are in the toilet in football because we have hired bad coaches (or decent ones deep in the bottle). 

Texas A&M and Missouri have been better programs for exactly 15 seasons throughout history.  They just happen to be the last 15.  Their presence didn't harm our prospects for success...firing the one coach we've had who knew how to win here and replacing him with a construction site outhouse full of steaming turds was what killed our chances and enabled those schools to pass us.

Oklahoma doesn't produce a ton of talent either.   OU lives on the DFW/ Northeast Texas pipeline.   

Mississippi's smaller population is offset somewhat by the demographic breakdown of it.  They have more than double (37.7 vs 15.6%) the black population we have by percentage.

More importantly, they are mostly far away from our high school programs with money.

I'll go ahead and give RS the benefit of the doubt although I get terrible PTSD symptoms when I hear him talk because his speech patterns are similar to Morris and the things he says he's going to do are almost exactly what Morris preached he was going to do in the beginning of his tenure as HC. I hope the difference is that RS can and will practice what he preaches. Time will tell.
