Btw, I love the song, named my youngest after it. But not at a football game. It's melancholy.

Well that's what he said but I assumed he was talking about things over the loudspeakers (popular and bumper music), not the band.

That's how I heard it anyway. Could be wrong.

Ok so I bought three of those $26 coke and dog included tickets for Saturday. Now that it's going to be hot as balls the 2 others have backed out.

I don't know if I want to go on my own or just hit the parents' house and watch on TV.

Anyone want my other 2? Anyone want 3? You wouldn't have to sit with Show Me, I bought upper upper deck assuming we would have pretty free reign to sit wherever. I have no plans to sit at the top of the West stands where the tix are.

I'll take them so I can take two of my kids.

Bunch of people on Twitter/X complaining about "the game day atmosphere" but when asked for specifics, they got nothing.  Oh yeah, we shouldn't honor other UA teams between quarters, etc.  BFD.  What are you going to put in during that time that is better?

Seriously tell me specifically what can be done to improve it.  Maybe the band playing a few different pieces?  What you got?

Nobody bitches about the "game day atmosphere" when we are winning.

Yeah that whole thing worried me. I don't want the head football coach to be worried about the game day atmosphere EXCEPT the part the football team plays in that (which is 95%).

I want the Assistant AD to handle his job, he/she can worry about all that. We're not magically going to get competitive with Georgia via new songs and getting rid of old dudes walking through the A.

Lurk

From the sound of things, we'll be in shape. That will be good enough for me.

Supposed to be 101 at kickoff Saturday. The people not in the shade are going to be like those hot dogs on the rollers at the gas station.

East side will be frisky.
Hopefully they don't pull their usual "we are out of ice" before halftime.
Some of the folks just below me on the lower east sideline will likely pass out.
If you are short of breath just walking up the stairs to your seat, just stay home. The game is on TV and your heart attack/heat stroke risk is much less.
Oak Grove in the house.

I'm old enough to have figured out to stay home the first game.  I burnt up many a day on the east side at the first game.  No more.

I got 2 tickets indoor on the east side and 4 just under the overhang on the west side. 100% due to miserable weather.

True story.

Me and my girlfriend, future wife and mother of my boys, got tickets to the 1998 football game against Alabama. They were through some family weekend promotional thing and we were able to get tickets for both of our families for like $5 a ticket. My parents, my sister and her husband, her parents, and her sister all came up for the game. I remember grilling shish ka bobs for lunch for everyone at my girlfriend's apartment. Then we went to the game. I want to say we were up 28-14 at the half, and her Dad passed out in the stands. We were sitting in the bleachers behind the North end zone. Called 911, ambulance came and run him to Washington regional, he stayed until late that night before they released him. That was the game we won 42-14 iirc. That game made Nutt a god in this state.

Its all optics

Coach needs to show the customers he cares and hears them so to get repeat business

A shitty game day experience can certainly begin with crowd and traffic control on down to the fluffers for the rich old guys.

Will not be hotter than 8/31/13 when it wS 107 at kickoff.  Should have been a sign with Bielema wearing a  pullover the whole game.

Sus-Scrofa

The ability to win more than the cupcake games does wonders for the game day atmosphere.

Figure out that riddle and everything else takes care of itself.

Fuck a 3:15 kickoff.

If they want to fix the in game experience, why not move kickoff to 6 pm?   Why play the game in or close to the hottest part of the day?  Seems simple?

Shit I remember that game. Bert's first.

I had upgraded us to South Indoor Club (we were formerly in West Upper Deck) and my wife absolutely ripped my ass for spending that kind of money, especially since we had a 1 year old.

Fast forward to the first game and everyone is falling out in the stands and we're sitting in the AC. She told me I was right. Print the shirts.

When I lived in NWA I had seats on the east side at midfield about 12 rows up. The 4 seats next to me were owned by someone who also had a box. The old boys who usually sat there were continuously going back and forth to the box to "reload" and consequently were all drunker than lords by halftime. The worst offender sat next to me and was so fat he overlapped onto my seat. During those afternoon September games his face was the same shade of cardinal as his shirt and he would be panting, sweating profusely and knee-walking drunk.

I lived in dread during those games that he would have a cardiac arrest and I was going to have to try to resuscitate him...which meant he was going to die.
