It did seem like we flipped a switch in the second half after that first failed possession. 

Kent State also seemed to know we weren't looking to run KJ.  As soon as that option became part of the playbook the rest of the run game opened up as well.

KJ was definitely a little off compared to his usual accuracy.  And we had a drop or two.  But our backs seem reluctant to hit the line hard.  Hopefully that is just a holdover from the Briles era.  Green did a little better and had some success at it.  And of course KJ ran it well.  But we should not have to run KJ nearly as much as we did against an opponent like Kent State.  Too much chance of getting him hurt.

Pittman was uncharacteristically critical of KJ and the passing game in his postgame, and plainly stated that we didn't pass the ball well at all. Our run game suffered because of it.

His short and mid-range accuracy was per usual, but his deep ball — which he's usually the most accurate with — was consistently off.

When we have to resort to the "run KJ to get his confidence up," it's usually not a good thing. We didn't have to do that last week against WCU.

Adam Ford said Rocket has a tendency to rush the hole and then bouncing outside if it's not there. Dubinion, and to a lesser extent Dominique, seemed to do that veny thing this weekend. Dubinion was quick to bounce outside and find the edge.

Still disappointed with when this game was scheduled, we've never played them this early in the season.  Unless we get a break in the weather we've been having down here, its still going to be brutally hot at 6.

His touch on the mid-range passes has always been off... No one is saying he's bad, at all!  However, his mid-range touch hasn't been right.  Where in previous seasons if he finessed it a bit more or could lead the receiver a bit more, more of them would have been catches.  I saw a marked improvement during the season opener, which screamed of Enos to me.  His deep ball has always been his strength when it comes to the pass... however, he didn't seem to have it there against Kent State.  Maybe an off day, or the WR wasn't right where they should have been for those timed throws.

The 3 to Storey that got dropped were great passes that should have been caught.  Maybe 1 was slightly behind Storey?  I'd have to go rewatch.  But I recall them all being good balls that should have been caught... and each was an intermediate.

KJ did seem to be throwing the ball low most of the day Saturday.  That was the main accuracy issue I saw.  Most were still catchable.

If you want to know what type of ball KJ is about to throw, just watch his feet.  He has had an issue with footwork throughout his career.  He actaully looked really good in game one.

You added the word "off" to the sentence about short/medium passes, which totally misrepresents my point and not what I said...

As such, I meant that he was his usual self Saturday in terms of accuracy on short and medium passes, but the deep ball was what was off.

I do feel his accuracy has improved...a good case to be made on some slants he threw against Western Carolina and also in this Kent State game tossed some lasers into TeSlaa that I don't know that he would have made last season.

With that said I think he still holds onto the ball a bit long sometimes and takes sacks needlessly. Against better competition which from here on out we'll basically be every week...we are going to lose games over some of this shit.

I think it's fairly clear we don't have a real starting caliber 3rd WR. Wilson may round into that but we're lacking something here. Mbake might have been that guy. Stephens has been a no-show. Dozier is probably a year away. Sategna isn't getting any run at WR...he's strictly a return guy for some reason. Broden was penciled in to help but hasn't really broken into the rotation as of yet.

I forget the game I saw it on, so maybe a moron said it, but the metric now is yards per attempt or yards per completion, to measure how the offense is pushing it down the field.
