Eh, high school recruiting is important but somewhat overrated in the portal era.

The portal is where your head coach needs to be a ringer, because that's how you turn around your program quickly and supplement where you need to.

Pittman fucked up in the portal with the crop of receivers, TEs, and OL he pulled. The transfer D-linemen haven't pissed a drop either. The lone bright spots have been the linebackers and a few of the secondary guys, and even they have been getting roasted on their fair share of snaps.

Maybe, but I don't think we have been in the era of NIL and the transfer portal long enough to really know this yet.  It may prove to be true.  But some things may work at one school for one coach, and different things work at others.

The portal isn't a magic fix. Results can be just as inconsistent.

You can't always expect or plan for a quality SEC replacement to even be available in the portal.

Such as Gumms and the kid from Louisville that haven't  done anything.

However the new WRs have beaten out the existing players for starting positions. WRs aren't the problem anyway.

I don't disagree with Sam trying to find the Ridgeways that were late bloomers and are now looking for a bigger stage. Otherwise it makes sense that a guy that can't make it at another P5 school can't make it here either.

The analytics say you should go for it every time in the situation we were in there. 

Given that I just knew (as I'm sure everyone here did) that A) we were going to line up in shotgun and B) we were going to fail miserably, I was begging and praying that we would punt. 

We should never go for it on fourth down if that's the formation we're going to use.
