Name me a coach who had great success somewhere and then stank at Arkansas.

Danny Ford was basically retired. Doesn't count.
Bert was propped up by Alvarez at Wisconsin and his record at Illinois proves it wasn't an "us" problem.

Arkansas is not a program that can hire a mediocre coach and coast to success. We get the quality of the coach we hire.

Hire a loser like Chad, and get Chad-like results.
Hire a winner like Petrino and get Petrino-like results.
Hire an underachiever like Nutt and get Nutt-like results.

And on it goes.

Make a good hire and we'll be a good program. Simple as that.

Last six quarters:  54 rushes  51 yards.

That my friends is all time futility.  Ole Miss was ranked 76th against the run coming into our game.

Fire them all.

Dan Enos is approaching Chad levels of failure.

If i remember correctly, money was a bit of an issue when we hired Pittman. Pretty sure we were still paying Bert and now gonna have to pay Morris. That, on top of the dumpster fire the program was in, didn't make for an appealing option for candidates.

I get the sense HY doesn't like losing, at all. If money isn't a concern, I would expect him to make a solid hire.

that's exactly what was going on. bert's joke of a settlement wasn't a thing yet and morris was owed over $10 million.  then throw in the buyout if he had hired some of the names that still get thrown around and money was absolutely an issue.

Yeah, but that kind if thinking is loser thinking.  That's the point.  Make the hire and spend the money.  If you make a good hire, money will not be an issue no matter how much you spend.  Make the wrong hire and money will always be an issue no matter how little you spend.

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Oct 09, 2023, 10:30 AMHe hired Pittman instead of Kiffin because he didn't want to deal with Sexton then gave Pittman a big buyout once he hired Sexton.  So....

The only thing true in your rambling is that he hired Pittman instead of Kiffin.  The rest is a guess at best.  You have zero.zero idea as to why he hired Pittman over Kiffin.

except that would mean going back to same people that were responsible for morris getting hired. where else was the money going to come from?

the fact that pittman was hired just shows there's limit to what those swinging dicks are willing to fork over to cover their mistakes.

I think Yurachek deserves some shit for not having backup options.

Even if we got priced out of Kiffin and/or he was never feasible to begin with, then we couldn't have hired a coordinator, G5 coach, or FCS coach for the same money?

Kansas State hired Klieman from FCS. Kansas hired Leipold from Buffalo, and he was D-III before that. OU's last three hires (dating back to Stoops) were coordinators. Georgia's last two were. Stoops was a coordinator before getting the Kentucky job. Elko was a coordinator. Lanning was a coordinator. DeBoer was at Fresno before UW hired him.

It's crazy to me that we're systemically this bad at evaluating coaching candidates, especially considering we're now getting lapped in the coach hiring game by basketball schools.

And when it comes to coordinators, I don't want to about "Barnhill's rule"...he's been dead for 50 years.

Saw on the twitter's someone advocating for Michigan DC Minter. Didn't realize he had Arkansas ties.

Enough schools have had success hiring coordinators that we can do it.  And frankly a coordinator at a Power 5 job is probably better prepared for an Arkansas job than a head coach at a lower level.

Yep and he was quickly called out for it

If and when we hire he is a name to look at but I'd rather have a proven commodity that coached as a head coach and has a success arc if you will. Jeff Traylor for example.

Dan Lanning will probably be a head coach this time next year so we'll probably miss out on him.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Dan Lanning is the current Oregon head coach so you are probably correct.

Don't forget after running TWO off late.  We had 14 guys on the field!
That's a clusterfuck!

Can he just swap places between a position coach and the coordinator y'all want to can? That what the GT coach did.

Of course, GT may be a bigger cluster than we are so might not be the place to go for ideas.
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing
