I doubt they will do that right away.  They will want to give Guiton a fair shake, and you probably don't want a new QB making his first start in the Swamp.  If (when) we lose that one, I'd play both Criswell and Singleton to see what they have.

I wouldn't expect him to come out and throw darts all over the field but on the other hand I do figure if he's better at short and intermediate throws and makes quicker decisions on where to go with the ball...it might just work. I don't think there are any fucks to give anymore from KJ.

3) goodwill built up from a very successful year, and a moderately successful year. That doesn't dissipate with administration as quickly as it does with fans

4) a good old boy who loves the Razorbacks and grew up just down the road and wanted the job

5) probably on the whole a good guy without Petrino-like personality conflicts

Sure, Sam can be a great person and maybe he is, but it has nothing to do with the fact he is not good at his current job. Both things can be true but too many people can not separate the two. I think I'd tell KJ that the starting QB position is back in play, and he needs to earn it.  Show him the film, what he did wrong, and summarize by saying "we need to make sure we have the best option running the team right now.  If that's you, so be it, but right now, we need to make sure."

If he's a leader, he'll understand; if not, moving on...

Mike Anderson had all the positives you listed and then some.

1. Pelphrey = Chad.
2. Track record of running a system that won us our only national title.
3. Goodwill from back-to-back NCAA appearances.
4. Great guy who loved Arkansas basketball and spent the majority of his professional career here in some capacity.
5. No personality problems whatsoever other than maybe the lack of a killer instinct.

Mike didn't have a plan to get basketball back on track after one down year.  If Sam doesn't have a credible plan to fix the problems evidenced by not one, but two consecutive seasons of underachieving relative to talent and schedule, he'll be shown the door as well.

We had people telling us Chad Morris was going to get one more year right up until the Sunday after the WKU game.  Many if not most said Bert would get another year...after all, it was his free pass year, right?  And no one really saw an Anderson firing coming until it happened. 

Hunter probably realizes by now that any coach that goes 0-8 in SEC here has to be fired immediately, whether it's his first year or his tenth.  Hindsight tells us we should have canned Bielema after 2013.  Common sense tells us Morris should have gone after the Colorado State game his first year, and definitely by the end of that season.

We're on our third coach in the last decade.  Just off the top of my head so is Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, and MSU.  Unlike those places, Arkansas always has a bunch of people willing to make excuses about why we CAN'T do something instead of why we can.
