I don't believe that USC-E and certainly not OM are behind us in NIL. Missouri apparently paid more for Crutchfield last year and they have brought higher rated talent than us. I'd be surprised by them as well.

Speaking of hip surgery.  Isn't today signing day?  Isn't this the week you want to be fully engaged to talk to guys hitting the portal and maybe keep some guys here?  What if one of your recruits waffles at the last minute?  Don't you want to talk to him?

Why was it so important to schedule it right after the season?  Schedule it the day after our crappy bowl game. 

To me it just like one more example of things being on autopilot up there with Sam not having a whole lot of care or feeling much responsibility for what is going on.

There was talk on other boards that he overruled some position decisions when Odom was here...namely not letting him play Woodard as much because he was a walk-on. 

It seems to me like maybe the opposite in some cases.  I think he gave Fountain too much leeway in deciding who to play...Fletcher over Bauer year before last, Ramsey over Shipley this year, etc.  And I thought we should have played some more people on the OL last year, especially once we were eliminated from bowl eligibility.

I believe the Woodard part. Woody showed out at UNLV and is about to rack up on post season awards.

Walkon 2020 and 2021 - pretty sure lettered on special teams.

Scholarship in spring 2022.

2022 - Played backup LB. I believe the bowl game after the huge attrition resulted in a significant playing time with Pooh Paul

2023 - Odom, Scherer, and Woody go to UNLV along with several others.

Woodard was awarded MAC defensive player of the year. If his team beats Boise Friday night, they are probably in the playoffs. He wasn't run off, but was told he wouldn't have playing time. He's narrowed it down to 2 agents and 2 pre draft practice facilities he is going to attend AFTER the bowl game(s).

Do you mot agree that the talent is really used by BP and TWill and not Pittman? Pittman is a hands off coach. Our coordinators are working with these kids 99% of the time. Aren't you really giving them the talent and not Pittman?

I do not agree.  Pittman is a "CEO" coach.  The culture of the team is his responsibility.  Players and coaches.  How much windshield time does he demand of his coaches?  How much time does he demand of them working phones with high school coaches and players. Working late nights studying the portal and recruiting? Sam is inherently lazy and is in coaching because he craves adoration and wants to be the good guy. We've all had bosses like that.  The team will reflect the boss.  Talent can only overcome part of it.  If the boss is lazy and complacent that's what the team will be.

The things around the game I completely get. I'm sure he has had some say in personnel but likely minimal.

My only worry on a coaching change is thst while we may bring in someone that is better at selling the program, practice habits, etc., but we will likely take a dip on the coordinator side (mainly BP). That impacts in game play and we've had several coordinators that have been awful. Of course, guys like Lashlee have a big impact on the game more so than others (SP).

Hypothetically, would you be okay with BP being head coach again? I wasn't sure if he would actually want it but if he interviewed at fucking Charlotte then he would kill to be the head hog again. The university could absolutely allow it if they wanted to and we would get an immediate spike in NIL contributions. He's the only reason the fan base gave a shit this year. If NIL is the sole driver of athletic dept decisions then he should be a no brainer.

Lamaleava sounds like a cool name. This also maybe leans toward the idea that BMFP is staying put. I'm not entirely convinced he interviewed at Charlotte but coaches aren't going to address rumors especially ones that make it sound like they are wanted.

I like it but don't love it. I think BP is best at play calling. He isn't known to be a great recruiter and at a time when you need to "sell" the program I don't know how successful he'll be at that. He hasn't had the best success his last couple HC stops. I think best case he stays as OC and we bring in a solid HC that will let BP do his thing. If you bring in a guy like Lashlee, will he meddle like Jimbo did? Who knows.

To be vlear, I would prefer BP over Pittman if those are my two options.

I'm for it. Inasmuch as I don't think they have any concept of a better plan in place. And next year is not the time to be hiring.

I had this argument for over an hour with my Dad a couple nights ago. He said "he wouldn't even want it." I made your exact point about then why would he be interviewing at Charlotte to make less than he is here as OC to be HC at a crap program? "Well, they can't do it legally." I talked to a lawyer buddy on Sunday who is in NWA now and is a huge fan/supporter, and he assured me it's as simple as the BOT voting to ignore the previous ruling, which is what they did last year to get him back as OC.

He then went on to say that I'm "just a huge Petrino supporter that wants to go back to the glory days when you were going to all the games and we were winning all the time." You're damn right. I thought that was the whole fucking point of any of this. That was fun. The last 12 years...not so much.

He wants Sam to stay one more year. I asked ok so what if Bobby leaves for somewhere else in the next few weeks. "Oh, well then Sam has to go too, then." Christ almighty. I just can't comprehend that line of thinking. That "we want this guy to be in charge as long as we have his subordinate. But if the subordinate isn't there, we don't want this guy. But let's not make the subordinate, who is objectively better than the guy in charge, in charge."

I don't want to shit on my Dad. He's a very smart man and knows more about pretty much everything than me. But this line of thinking, which he shares with many peers of his generation, is mind-baffling.
