The only thing I'd argue with respect to Lashlee is that when that happened he was a fairly young coach in his first big time job.  One would hope he's matured somewhat since then, and since taking the responsibility over a whole team versus one side of the ball. 

Muschamp is just a loose cannon.  That guy will have a stroke (with or without Swahili's intervention) before he hits 60.

I hope you are right and he's matured.  I think I had him three times all at different schools and he was pretty much the same, but that's been a few years ago.  Plus, he was the OC each time so he might be different as a head coach (I never had him as a head coach).

Unfortunately, some of the worst coaches I worked for were up there in years and never grew up or matured when it came to that.

It's been a long time since I've been at a game that fun.

We just absolutely kicked their ass.

The play by Cobi was really great.  Got kind of lucky when their two defensive backs ran into each other.  But the call of the day was the Cowboy Go on 4th and 3 to Adams.  Electrified the place.

Maybe it is  true, but I really don't give two shits what the Alabama apologist and SEC shill Paul Finebaum has to say about anything. It seems more like Finebaum is just taking shots at Lashlee for saying negative things about Alabama and trying to work his crimson audience base (99.5% of it) into a frenzy during a slowtime.

Also, let's be honest Finebaum could give 2 shits about Arkansas and our program would be better off if all the PTB would quit listening to the verbal handjobs that SEC network talking heads hand out while speaking at the LRTDC, it's called playing to your audience. They tell every fanbase that.

Also, why does Sam need someone to undermine him when he seems he has shown he is perfectly capable of doing that on his own. One can only hope he went to a timeout management class/seminar/camp during the off-season.

colleges are weird when it comes to retiring numbers. for all the great players bama has had, they have never retired one. lsu has done it only twice.

then you have usc which has retired every heisman winner's number.

As you well know, I think money is our biggest issue. So anything that brings in better talent, I'm on board. I'd hope he (or whoever the next coach is strongly considers keeping Petrino). That is a big plus for me.

My issue with Lashlee is he was very meh as an OC is the SEC. You could argue below average. Winning at SMU in a poor ACC doesn't move my needle. Let's see what he does in year 2.

Why do we need a head coach?  Fire Sam.  Keep the coordinators.  Build an AI head coach to make the game time analytics and decisions.  Give him the voice of JFB. He can even pooch kick to keep it real.  We can get ahead of the curve and just give the thing a bitcoin to dick around with in its spare time and a Mrs AI that's a mix of Jen Bielema, a blond vball player, and that newslady mistress of Hootie's.

That will put us ahead of the game and will certainly be better than any real human goober we could hire.

If that's possible (it could be, I really don't know), it might be worth a shot, but how many donors would quit giving to the program because of that?  Would that matter?

That's just Bo doing Bo things though. Guy couldn't get enough Nutts in his mouth back in the day...I doubt anything has changed.

Modern day AD's have to be legit CEO types and probably leaning more toward a MLB/NBA/NFL GM or team president type of position. Anyone hiring Nutt to be the AD here needs to find out what the inside of a wood chipper looks like when it's running. I seriously doubt SEC schools will be hiring any one to AD from academia in the near future so I think that's going to rule out a lot of pencil necks looking to build a resume to become Chancellors and what not. We need someone well versed in Sports Management & Entertainment, talent acquisition..not rich old white guy walks.

As for the coaching change that I think we all think will be coming possibly before Thanksgiving: We're coming off our Tiny Arkansuk hire in Pittman after the botched hiring of Chad Morris so I think we're somewhat due for another moderately decent decision with hopes of having another unicorn fall into our laps like Petrino. The trend in football has been to fire mid-season to get out in front on recruiting the portal. Arkansas being late to the party at all times will probably hold on way too long. Either way we'll be in limbo by mid-Nov. There's really only one way we aren't having this discussion in a few months and that would be because Petrino really pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

An AI head coach would not say "I didn't know what to do."  It would have every football play and situation in its algorithms. It wouldn't run a smoke draw every 3rd and 5.  It wouldn't ride a motorcycle.  It wouldn't say "smile".
