His comments regarding the Liberty loss last year raise eyebrows now in the post-sign stealing scandal era.

Still doesn't excuse our loss, but it might possibly help explain it.

Obviously that was hyperbole.

KJ had more RPO under Briles and generally did well with those. If anything, that play style tends to cut down the field into fewer sections to scan/read on any given play.

KJ was plenty good enough under the previous OC.  I get that you want to blame him for our offense being ass this year, and he deserves some of that, but he was a very good, nearly elite college QB for the two previous years. 

You can disagree with that, but just understand that if you do you are indisputably wrong.

Again, you aren't wrong about his performance this year.  You are wrong about how he performed the previous years.  The numbers do not lie in either case.

"I have never been a KJ fan" is an opinion that is neither right nor wrong. It just is. It may help to recognize that as a Steelers fan, I never liked Ben Roethlisberger. He got far too much credit for being a big QB hard to tackle, when in reality he got sacked over and over and over and over again because it was in his head that he was a big QB hard to sack. When he wasn't. KJ is the same. To get my fandom, these QBs should be practicing the important QB qualities of quick hits (such as Brady), throwaways (pretty much every QB), or elusiveness (such as Johnny Football). I just don't like the Roethlisberger/KJ quarterbacking style. Not a fan.

As far as KJ's effectiveness as a QB, obviously it's awful this year. My view of him was colored by the Mizzou game I attended in Columbia the Covid year. He was very inaccurate. I went to the recent Mississippi St. debacle. He was still very inaccurate.

You can't put up the completion percentage, yards per attempt, and TD to interception numbers he did in those seasons if you're inaccurate. 

My opinion is that he is in a style of offense that doesn't play to his strengths (arm strength, accuracy on deeper throws, ability to scramble) and accentuates his weaknesses (reading defenses, quick decision making).  It's made worse by the fact that our offensive line couldn't create a pass pocket against the Woopig second team defensive line.  Tom fucking Brady wouldn't look good behind this line, running this scheme.

I think even under Briles KJ was a bigger part of our offensive problems than we acknowledged.  He has always missed open receivers and missed them to throw to receivers short of the sticks on third downs.  He has never been good at throwing a receiver open and he has always taken sacks because he took too long to make a decision.  It just seems that our last OC was willing to live with these shortcomings and design things to work with him and bring out his really good attributes.  Enos didn't get that. 

Oh well, it's mostly spilled milk now.  No need to rehash it all over and over.  I just want a reason to look to the future with optimism.  I don't see much of one if Sam comes back.

No question KJ was a more effective QB under Briles.

No question KJ was also very likely a limiting factor these past few years because for all the good and great he is...there is also a heavy element of fail to him. He was at his best with a legit NFL WR on the roster and hasn't really been the same thereafter which certainly isn't his fault. Arguably it's the fault of the guy now calling the plays...Guiton. Our WR "room" has steadily gone down hill since Justin Stepp departed.

He's not the greatest decision maker and this season just enhanced it by a million percent. As someone on woopig has said many times...million dollar arm...ten cent head.

KJ could still take a super senior covid year if I'm not mistaken which could mean we'll see him transfer to ole say TCU next season.

Success is about doing the little things very well.  Not sure Guiton has proven he "gets that".

Maybe he's a better playcaller than position coach.  I don't believe it and our WRs run sloppy lazy routes.  Maybe that was Enos philosophy and it's gone.  I don't believe that either.  Sams no help.  He doesn't know what a "route" is.
