As a technotard, I have no idea what any of that means.

I suspect it means KJ is a "great athlete" in old coach-speak.

Oof...

And this is where Pittman's postgame admission that "I just didn't know what to do" in that situation goes from sad to infuriating. Because Pittman invited this on himself. He thought he was a big-time coach, he fired his local agent, and he hired super-agent Jimmy Sexton and negotiated a contract that doubled his salary from $3 million to $6 million. But he's not worth $6 million. He's 9-12 (3-10 SEC) with home losses to Liberty and BYU during this contract. Oh yeah, and Mississippi State 7, Arkansas 3.

I'm pretty sure he missed a key point in his analysis of Sam and his buyout.  Unless I'm mistaken, the covid year doesn't count towards Sam's record for buyout or extension purposes.  He's 18-16 now with four games remaining.  Unless we lose all four (including FIU) he'll be at .500 at the end of the year, so no buyout reduction.

Had the same thought when reading FV's analysis. I thought the COVID year doesn't count towards Pittman's career win/loss when it comes to buyout language?

one bright note in their report - South Carolina may be preventing us from a couple of years of Dowell Loggains fucking up here somewhere down the road.

Illinois might be doing the same with Lunney.

They're ranked 81st in total offense and 111th in scoring offense. Woof.

The buyout is reduced if we can him, it's just a question of how much. If his record from 2021 forward is at or above .500, it's a 25% discount. If below .500, it's a 50% discount.

As this article posits, the FIU game could potentially be worth $5mm to Fat Sam.

That's what I thought.  Adam Ford's analysis was including 2020.

This is just unfathomable:

"TWO PERCENT EXPLOSIVE PLAY RATE. Two percent. That's a 2. That's actually a round-up: it's 1.6%. That happens to be the fourth-lowest explosive play rate by an FBS team this season, in 970 games. Only Navy against Air Force, Sam Houston against Air Force, and Northern Illinois against Nebraska were worse."

And this is probably worse:

"... just two Hog drives got a first down inside the State 40, and one of them started there thanks to a pick. The other was mismanaged into a punt by Sam Pittman."

Good stuff on Read & React where Cole Cubelik breaks down why Slide Protection has become the fad blocking go-to for OL coaches and why college OL are so terrible at it.

I assume we are currently doing a lot of slide.

I'll give Ford a ton of credit.

He called it with Enos before the season and predicted we'd struggle because his style was a diametric shift from Briles and thus would be a tough transition for guys like KJ and Rocket.

He accurately predicted Rocket (and our other backs) would struggle in this scheme, and he predicted that our explosive play rate would diminish significantly.

While many of us were holding onto the rope of 2015, he also called out that Enos's offense was different now, not necessarily modern or better, and that it didn't incorporate RPOs.

Kenny Guiton played under Urban Meyer if I recall correctly at Ohio State, played behind Braxton Miller for much of his career. His OC at the time was Tom Herman who he followed to Texas as a offensive QC before returning to Houston as a WR coach. I highly doubt he's some dummy.

So anyway I figure he will reintroduce some of the same things we were doing under Briles and if he's there long enough maybe we work in some of that Urb/Herman type shit. If we were a real program we would be trying to hire Urban Meyer (HC) instead of Michigan State. At least at Arkansas he's got a better built-in excuse for losing. It's a nice free money job for a good 4 or 5 year stretch.

Our OL is more of a bullfight "ole'" type. They move the cape out of the way as the DL is charging through.
Well, shit...

I think Urban has a mental disorder where losing makes him physically ill and have a nervous breakdown.

Our losing culture would make his heart explode.

His comments regarding the Liberty loss last year raise eyebrows now in the post-sign stealing scandal era.

Still doesn't excuse our loss, but it might possibly help explain it.
