I rarely find that the simplest answer is the correct one. Just giving someone else a try isn't gonna solve this.

Engineers! Lead the Way!

I disagree, and I often find that the simplest answer is the correct one. It's the engineering mind however, that should remain vigilant for the outliers.

We're walking into year 6 brother. This is not an outlier.

God help us if Sam gets a new hip and manages 8 wins next year.

Well, I'm on the data architecture side. Only a simple problem has a simple solution. This is not a simple problem.

Quote from: bigpig on Nov 30, 2024, 09:25 PMExactly. HY needs to sit Sam down and say "look at the schedule: You'll probably be fired before Halloween next year, and you'll be hated by everyone. Or you can retire and shape the narrative that you were the guy who dragged us out of the mud and undid our laughingstock reputation."

Sam will say the same thing he's been saying.  "Pay me".  He doesn't care if he's fired, retired, or working he's getting paid.

The difference between Sam and great coaches is simple. Great coaches don't love winning; they hate losing with so much fervor it drives every fiber of their being. Sam is mighty comfortable losing.

Sure it is. It's year 6, not year 2. We know the outcome. You seem to be comfortable with status quo.

Quote from: Barton Fink on Nov 30, 2024, 10:11 PMDoes everyone agree we have significant disadvantages in recruiting? (especially HS)

It's also well known that we have one of the poorest NIL collectives in the SEC.

Given those 2 things, if you agree with them, what are your expectations?

To me, given those 2 things we are a 6-9 win program tops. I don't care who your head coach is. You are not gonna compete at an elite level unless you can match the talent of your opponent every week.

After 32 years in the SEC we are a 6 win program. That's reality. That is not gonna change until something DRASTICALLY changes.

Recruiting base is what nobody wants to talk about, but it is what we don't have. The state does not produce enough D1 talent to be "our base", so we always had to rely on TX. Once Aggie came into the SEC, that killed our pitch of "you get to play in the SEC". With OU now in, that kills OK. Every state around us can offer better $$, better programs, better coaches, better opportunities. We never got 4 or 5 star kids and we won't now. I think we'll have to over-perform to win 8-9 games, and I don't think we can do that on a regular basis in the SEC.
I need help and I know it.

"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar when his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

It kinda is

You know Sam doesn't move wallets

You don't know if the next guy will but probably gets an "election bump" if he's anywhere near sellable to the fans

Arkansas fans are gonna want another Calipari type hire and I just don't see that happening for the football program

Have to agree with Ford here this Williams guy calls some really fucked up defenses sometimes.

I'm sure some of that is our talent limitations but I'd much rather put pressure on a QB than to sit back and wait for 12 yard completions guarding at 15 yard depths.

Apathy will be at an all time high next year. Stuck with this shitty QB. No Armstrong. Russell, Braxton, Hasz will leave. Division II talent on D.

I can't get much more apathetic at this point. I still passively watch every game on TV, but I stopped buying season tickets. Every home game I hope a friend or family member doesn't offer me a ticket so I don't have to come up with some BS excuse not to go. Not too long ago I could name 90% of the roster and now I might be able to name 10 guys on the team.

I saw in the comments that someone thought the snow hurt us.  I thought it helped us, particularly our secondary.

I'm not huge on Hasz, but if he leaves, Shamar Easter better be the truth because we're paper thin at TE.

💯

No one wants to hear it, but you're right. This season is about what you can expect playing in the SEC.

The Whyte Boar

I don't really agree.  Whenever we're down like this everyone wants to pretend we're at such a disadvantage and our talent is so terrible.  There are schools with bigger advantages, that's for sure, but this isn't a plucky little under talented team overachieving it's way to a six win season.  This is a 9 win team bumblefucking its way through the season with a fat loser coach practically inventing ways to lose games.

If we play just AVERAGE football in terms of penalties and turnovers, we win at least two more games.  Instead we played HISTORICALLY bad football in terms of penalties and turnovers and we limped to six wins.

I can't stand all of this loser wittle ol Arkiesaw talk.  Get a competent coach and win the games we are supposed to win.  If you win 7-9 games consistently you build excitement in the program and then every so often, things are going to break and you turn a 9 win season into a 10 or 11 win season.  And now, that means you make the playoffs.

Everything starts with competent coaching.  Get that.  Win some games you're not supposed to.  Excitement builds, recruiting momentum builds, NIL picks up, and more wins follow.
