DVH said before the season this was the best bullpen he's ever seen. So there's an extreme disconnect somewhere.

Easy mixup whenever our starters are striking out against them. Had to decide if he was seeing bad hitting or good pitching. Now we know it was bad hitting and bad pitching.

Best he's ever seen? When/where did he say that?
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

I'm sure many completely disagree with me, but I don't want Vitello here even if he agrees to work for free.

I legit can't understand this.

The guy is a winner, arguably the best recruiter and talent evaluator in the country (he built the team that nearly won the NC and went back to Omaha the next year), and turned a nothing baseball program into one of the top programs in the country.

He's got just 1 less SEC regular season title than DVH in a 3rd of the tenure, and he's got 1 more tournament title.

He's won more games since Covid than DVH and has a CWS title.

No doubt his resume is solid, but I don't want someone like him representing the UofA.  When, literally, everyone hates you, it's probably you and not everyone else.

If he comes here and doesn't win a title, I agree with you.

If he comes here and does win I title, I disagree completely.

"If by whiskey" and all of that.

I respect your stance, but as long as the goal is winning we should put the best team possible on the field, which includes the head coach, with the obvious disqualifier that criminals and convicted cheaters (assuming the rules they broke are still in place) need not apply.

Everyone hated Bobby Petrino and we didn't seem to mind that.

And Vitello is widely respected in coaching circles. A lot of people see his antics for what they are - something to get his teams to play loose and balls out. Wes Johnson has basically copied his coaching approach to the letter at Georgia.

I change my mind.  We should always hire a National Championship winning coach.  If he tells us to fuck off then we go hard after Wes.  No clue what we do after that but I have to believe we are blue blood enough to grab a top caliber coach.

I would like to see them win as much as the next guy, but I just don't like the "win at all costs" philosophy.  I've seen it (sometimes from the inside) in football too much and I just don't like it.  That's just my personal preference and I know it means jack squat to the folks who will be hiring the next coach.

My exact thought.  TV might be an asshole but he would be our asshole.  The #1 HS catcher's mom wouldn't let her son talk to him.  He won't end up going to college anyway IMO.  I just thought it was funny his mom hated when he called him.

"Win at all costs" phylosophy.

I agree.  But I don't know what that means in realtion to TV.

Can he come across as an arogant jerk?  Sure.  Does his team play with arogance.  Yes.  They win and winners tend to be Type A.

With that said, as far as I know, he hasn't done anything that compromissed what it means to win.  He hasn't cheated.  Hasn't been abusive or put the sport in a bad light.  I simply don't know what he has done that tips the scales of the "win at all cost" phylosophy to the negative side.

Now that NIL is the norm across the collegiate landscape "winning at all costs" has taken on a much different meaning. These aren't kids anymore. They're paid professionals.

If you're not willing to spend on the best players AND the best coaching staffs you're behind the 8 ball and only hoping to catch lightning in a bottle to win a title.

If he's willing to come, bring TV to Fayetteville ASAP.
I'm sorry Elvis......for all of it.

Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

Son of Spam

I think the thing about TV is that he comes off as kind of a dick and his players seem like they take after that. I remember one Tenn player coming home in a game, sliding and reaching and touching the plate with his finger. Shit like that among others. But, being OUR dick may change attitudes about him.
Well, shit...

See, I don't agree that everyone hated Bobby-- till he rode that damn motorcycle.  Maybe the recipients of his dog-cussings hated him, including a few of his players.  But everyone damn sure respected him.

National media hated his guts. I wish they could've received his dog-cussings. He was certainly not respected by all.
