I used to want us to go to a bowl for the extra practice time it would allow. With it being a full time job for the players now, there's no need for it. All it does is provide nil film of any good young player that shows out.

Apparently it is not parody.  And there are two other teams that are declining invitations to bowls-- maybe K State and Iowa state?  So some of these lower bowls are going to be even more terrible.  May be right about the death of the bowl system.  Even tv money may not save it.

Agreed.  All they had to do was join the ACC in the one sport where they're not already a full member and they would be in.   

As an independent they are getting the treatment they deserve for the first time since any of us were born.

Disney, Fox and other media groups might have a different say about skipping bowls. That is lost advertising revenue for them and not likely to turn a blind eye in the future, Disney especially.

I bet they start putting clauses about fulfilling bowl obligations in tv contracts and failure to go will cost schools/conferences in the millions.

I don't see how you can make a team go to a bowl unless you also prevent player opt outs. And I don't know how you can prevent those. You know, free will and all.

If you make "Iowa State" go to a bowl but the players don't want to, who is going to play? A bunch of walk ons?
