True, you have suffered longer, but we peaked, never to get that point again, when we were up 14-0, sometime about halfway through the first game I ever saw, when I was 8, and we never have really been near that point again and I am 62.

That, and I am afflicted with spates of silly optimism apparently more often than you, so my suffering is greater.

Now I am sounding like a liberal in a "Who's the biggest martyr?" contest.  I figure the last 10 or so years of rooting for us and GT has me close, although I rarely can muster expectations for GT.

Dad actually won the Pinewood Derby.  He really got into it, got the weight just right, the aerodynamics, even got it painted by some friend who did car painting.  It was just plain old blue, now that I think of it a lot like our 1976 or so Bonneville.  That thing FLEW.  Then Uncle Bob or Aunt Shirley won the pie baking contest for Little Bob the next month.

Hey, at least the Western Carolina and Kent games prepared us for Saturday. If we had looked great during those games, we would be completely blindsided and mad as hell about what happened??

But our inability to handle minor college defensive lines and protect the QB and create holes for the RBs who couldn't find one anyway if Moses parted the Red Sea right in front of them, reminds me of when my 10th grade English teacher taught us about foreshadowing.

The big question is whether Enos working out kinks and finding his footing or if this is just what we'll be this year.

I went back and looked at our 2015 results. We were pretty shitty on offense through the first half of the season.

12 against Toledo
24 against Texas Tech
21 against Aggy in a game that went to OT
24 against Tennessee
14 against Bama (granted, National Champs that year)

Then we kicked into gear after the Bama game and scored 54, 63, 52, 31, 50, 28, and 45 the rest of the way. All of those were conference/P5 opponents except for UT Martin.

The easiest gimmie scouting report is to get pressure on our punter and expect a 10-20 yard punt. We end up about the same as if we had thrown a pick on third down.

KJ is going to hold nearly all the QB records, but he's no Brandon Allen, at least not in terms of the system he's playing in. BA's style of QB play fit better into Enos' 2015 system than KJ's style fits into Enos' 2023 system.

So I don't expect a big second half of this season like we saw in 2015. That offense ended up being amazing to watch. This one is going to limp along all year.

Biggest difference is that we had a talented, experienced offensive line in 2015 with guys like Ragnow, Skipper, and Kirkland. For some reason they just sucked in the early weeks before putting it together.

I have little to no hope with this group. We have captain and 4 year starting guard who might be our worst lineman.
