The "aw shucks" act ain't an act.  It's the reason he was an assistant for his whole career.  Petrino could do it if he had someone to coordinate the NIL stuff exclusively.  And really with the unlimited assistants and the resources we have, why don't we have someone who coordinates NIL exclusively and manages that. Shit, we should have a guy out rounding up the money and making the sales with the recruits.  Get the coaches out of recruiting altogether.  Pay the guy responsible with percentage of NIL, give him an incentive to get money and sign people.

There is really two phases of NIL. The money pool and allocation management aka collective. Something we were told Arkansas over the last couple years has sucked at. You need people that will keep the pool topped up and hopefully building additional pools. You'll need people who can find the right talent to allocate money to. My understanding is a school like Ole Miss is not filling up that pool with huge corporate donors. They are doing it more grass roots and it's working for them. In Arkansas we either don't have that level of commitment or our university is mainly interested in rubbing elbows with the Wal-Mart and Tyson execs. That didn't stop them from putting the blame on the fans after last season.

I don't know that it's as simple of finding a Bob Sugar type to go out and get players. The rules of engagement are still so that it has to be coaches approaching these kids within certain contact periods so I'm not sure how it's going to work just having some money nerd there to make sure shit gets handled the way it needs to go.

Oh and when a coach says "I don't know" what they really mean is "They won't take my call".
