When you watch a guy like DJ you can see the answers are right there.  We're just not making the plays that are there to be made on either side of the ball.   Doesn't mean we win every game if we make those plays, but there hasn't been a game this year that we've lost solely because of talent.

It's as good an explanation as any I can think of, to explain the shit show we saw Saturday.

If Sam wins a couple he'll be back.  If he loses out he'll either be back, or he won't.  In each scenario he's making the same money.  Does he care about getting fired when it means an additional $8-22 million?  I don't think he cares enough to do one additional thing different or harder to try to win any game.

Regardless how we do it we need to at least split the Mississippi's. But if we do manage to get MSU on the road I feel like all energy and prep will be placed on beating Texas and getting Pittman (GVN) that lifetime contract. I'm actually all for it purely for the entertainment of it all being so predictable. We have tended to play Ole Miss fairly strong in the last few years so I wouldn't put us past being competitive in that game. We could have a gravy shot of La Tech and a overrated Mizzou team...still plenty of possible Ws on this schedule. Mizzou on the road late in the year with little or nothing to play for is the worst though and no doubt a big reason why we don't get "up" for them...like ever. The other reason is it's fucking Mizzou. Can they not give us our hated rival Vanderbilt every year? Oh wait nevermind.

Nutt was notoriously lazy and played pickup games in the HPER.

Pittman spends off week weekends at the lake instead of recruiting and obsessing over film and game prep.

Is it too much to ask for Yurachek to hold his coaches accountable and at least demand a little work ethic? I guess so.

Or even just the appearance of it.  Maybe just stay home and out of public sight instead of off doing stuff like that.  It's only a couple three months out of the year.  And good, bad, or whatever he is only a few years (at absolute most) from being retired with a pile of money.  Skip a trip down to the lake during the season.  It will still be there when it's done.

You seem to be cherry picking these coaches faults. Other than Chad I don't really see a huge issue here. Bert being a drunk came after a 0-8 effort...this job killed him nearly. 

Personally I think Bert cared a lot about winning. Maybe lacks the coaching talent to sustain success but he's got enough chops to make a showing now and then.

Nutt like Pittman took the previous coaches players and won enough to get a fat 2nd contract. Nutt playing pickup games in the summer is hardly something to shit on him for. Guy got comfortable with his job no doubt and lacked consistency. Nutt is unique in that he was both extremely dependent on instate stars and to his demise lacked the ability to put a solid roster together every season. That inconsistency follows the case where Arkansas just doesn't pump out legit star talent every season.

The main problem I have with Pittman right now is that he so CLEARLY wants to be retired and home on the lake, but he just won't go, either because he is greedy or just won't go out being less than successful. It's a disservice to any employer to half ass a job when your heart isn't in it, but there are certain jobs that you just can't do unless you are 100 percent committed to it.  Being an SEC football coach is one of those.

If Sam doesn't go to the lake at the end of this year, then he is pretty much a fraud and a liar and everything he ever said about loving the state and the university is a lie.  You can't ask players to put out 110 percent effort or fans to spend thousands of increasingly precious extra income if you aren't willing to skip a few trips to the lake for appearances sake at the very least.

agree, although i think bert becoming a dad changed his priorities somewhat.

the idea that because a coach isn't successful all the time it must mean they're lazy, greedy, or it's a sign of some other huge character flaw is stupid. sometimes you just suck, like chad.

I knew Bert wasn't going to make it when he had that kid at 42.  When I had my first I quit deer hunting and playing golf for awhile just because I wanted to be around so that I could see what she was going to do next.  I clearly remember being out hunting one morning and just getting up and going home so that I could be around her.

That's the kind of thing that has a guy go home right then instead of tweaking the game plan a bit or watching a little more film.  And that is the difference between sucking and winning in the SEC.

or, and this will be an unpopular take, Arkansas isn't any better of a program than Vanderbilt or Rutgers.  We could have Pete Saban or Nick Carrol as coach and we would still suck.  

Not saying that is true.  But our fans never consider that might be the case.

A liar or greedy...maybe or maybe not, but it is clear that Pittman is just over it. He does seem to go to Hot Springs every chance he can.

He isn't really that engaged in interviews. Saban or Belichik wasn't warm and fuzzy either but you can at least feel an intensity. To be fair, I can't say I'd be looking forward taking questions from Bob Holt.

He looked more relieved than happy after the Tennessee win.

Maybe that hip is a bigger issue than it seems, to even have a public mention of it is sort of telling.
