The "Jimmies and Joes" trope is one of the worst, most misused quotes ever uttered in sports.  Every time one of those coaches said that it was to deflect attention from themselves or to keep from embarrassing a less talented coach they had just beaten badly.  Context matters. 

Obviously having more talent is better.  Ed O, Les Miles and Larry Coker each won titles with talented rosters they had little to do with acquiring.   Those guys also fell on their asses with teams more talented than any we have ever had.  Give Saban equal or slightly lesser talent than any of those guys and he's kicking their asses 90+% of the time.

Petrino had a really good system and plan for Arkansas where he concentrated on the measurables of players.  He recruited players of certain heights, weights, and speed and then coached them up.  How many times did we see him be the first major school to offer a guy only to have schools like Alabama come in and offer later.  And our three stars played like four and five stars. 

Anyway, we have the talent to be a 9 or 10 win team.  We ain't Georgia and we might not ever be, but it just sickens mento see how many people seem to think we should be haply and lucky to squeak out six or seven.

I don't think we should be happy with that but the athletic dept does which is why I agreed with a previous poster about shifting all the resources to basketball and baseball.

Coaching, lack of execution.  Lots of plays there to be made with receivers running wide open, but Green is not seeing them and/or making the throws.  He is not there yet.  Blame that on coaching if you want.  If he and the coaches are here next year, he'll probably be greatly improved.

if green can't see the progressions, then it's talent, right? i have no doubt he's getting some of the best qb coaching that he can.

I don't know about that.  If he gets it next year and sees everything will he be more talented next year than he was this year or just more comfortable?

DJ brings up the lack of a kicker.  It is killing us.  We are 2nd in the conference in first downs and danged near last in the country on scoring efficiency in the red zone.  LSU stalled out the other night over and over but they would always get points because they had a competent kicker.

Really not much excuse for not having a kicker at this level.

That is when he's not hanging WRs out to dry.   His legs are his game.  Not accurate or on time enough to run petrinos offense.  I'm ready to give Singleton some run and see if he can get the ball out on time.
