he might be a priority for arkansas, but i don't see him being one for another team, especially for any kind of serious nil money.

I think Kennedy had him playing out of position.  He looked good at guard Saturday.

Coming into fall camp he was one of the ones that was supposedly really improved with the move over to guard from tackle. Somewhat well regarded out of high school.

That being said we've all seen where Pittman has his favorites and ignores others that clearly aren't his golden child. To some degree I guess all coaches do this.

Obviously Pittman deserves blame as he's the ultimate final say so in all matters, but I think putting Kutas at RT (and not playing Harris at all even after the season went to shit) was a Kennedy decision.  The OL is one position where Sam shouldn't feel worried about stepping in to correct his position coach on personnel choices.

he did look good saturday. it's just my opinion that he probably meant what he said in regards to the redshirt because i don't see another p4 team coming at him with enough nil to make him change his mind.

Why would you redshirt anyone? There's a 80% chance they won't be here for four years anyway. Makes zero sense.

One reason might be that I was thin at a certain position, and one of my projected starters at that position had missed most of the season due to injury, and that starter had requested a redshirt, and I was reasonably certain that he intended to play for my team next season.

By the way, in 2023, 2,691 college football athletes entered the portal--which works out to around 3.3% of the estimated 81,000 football athletes at 4 year colleges/universities. Approximately 1.6% of NCAA football players are drafted each year.

Yep, just looked and it appears he's doubtful for Ole Miss but that Pittman is very confident he'll be back for the last 3 games.

Why redshirt?

Takes care of the keed. 

Now if Kutus could legit go with 7 or 8 games to go on the year then I'd have to wonder about the decision. I think they slow played him a bit to gain an extra season for him but it may have also been a deal where the kid had to work himself back into playing shape too. I just looked at a couple freshman...Bridges has played in 5 games...a few others have played in 5 games. Redshirt burned. Redshirts are mainly treated as a medical year and still yet there is another medical year so you can stretch a kids career out to 6 years and it's not uncommon now to go for 7. There's some kids due to covid on year 9 this season. Crazy.


To address NIL and are teams really longing for an experienced SEC lineman...you better believe it.

that number is a little bloated. the sec had 313 transfers that were on scholarship during the last off season, which averages 19-20 per team, or 23% of the scholarship players in the conference.

Was just thinking about this today, but from last year's squad we lost our QB, practically our entire backfield, most of the OL, most of our LB corps, and our all world kicker, and yet we'll finish with a better record this year.

Pretty telling both in terms of coaching and locker room leadership what a shitshow last season really was.

I think it's shameful that a former OL coach doesn't appreciate the value in having a top tier line to make or break your offense. You can have the best QB and receivers in the world, but if the QB is getting pressured as soon as he drops back, your offense isn't going anywhere.

said this for a while. spend the money on the lines. offense and defense.

also a decent rb can be found cheap and they can be great behind a good o-line. get a decent qb that will be around for a couple of seasons and they will get a chance to develop while not running for their lives.
