Quote from: DirkPiggler on Sep 29, 2025, 10:54 AMYurachek put us squarely behind the 8-ball with his initial stance of fighting NIL rather than figuring it out.

By the time we started somewhat playing the game, the people who were capable of moving the needle with contributions had lost faith in Pittman and his inability to get the most out of what he had.
while all that is true, going forward that can't be an excuse, not saying you're making it one.

barton is right, the nil has to be in place. the next coach isn't going to be one that makes everyone happy, but the fans are going to have to have faith and not a wait and see attitude, imo.

To me, it feels like the one who can bring the most NIL$ with him will be the next coach. Coaching ability/record is secondary, who is the best fund raiser.

I'm not absolving HY but I wouldn't be surprised if Sam wasn't more resistant to NIL than HY was.  I remember Sam talking about learning things with Calipari and getting introduced to certain boosters by Cal.  I found it odd at the time that Sam hadn't met those guys already and wasn't doing some glad handing already.

My point?  There may have been more money available than Sam realized had he simply made an effort at personal connections with people who could give it.

You need two things or a coach to be REALLY strong in one or the other.

A coach needs to be a solid fundraiser and glad hander and/or someone who is so competent that boosters know that regardless of personal feelings that he will produce if they produce.

A cardboard cutout to mouth BP's defensive play calls.

I've been harping on this for a while now but when we were giving out free bbq and catfish most every other school in the conference was out busting ass to take advantage of the new rules. We were so concerned about what it would look like and others already had their hand up the proverbial dress. It probably hurts us having these large corporations up in NWA because most of us peons out there are thinking...well Wal-Mart is going to be all over that. Well they aren't. Those libtards people couldn't give any fucks.

Back on Petrino...this would be a good opportunity to have that incentive laden contract. A million per P4 win or something like that should do nicely...anything else is base salary of whatever like 2 million or something. Zero buyout for us to fire his ass and 20 million for someone to take him away for the first 5 years. Automatic 5 million dollar bonus and free volleyball tickets for life if he makes it to the 6th season.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

I had to google it. Kolby Smith is the OC. He played for Bobby at UL. Was a GA here in 2012 (presumably he was brought here pre-firing), and RB coach for Bobby at WKU, and UL 2.0. Been here since last year (came with Bobby).

I suppose Bobby will continue to be QB coach.

62% buyout

so not the reduced buyout as if we'd waited, but not the full buyout either.

Also maybe one more staff addition, but no specifics. I'd assume that's on the defensive side.

Credit to the media guys in the room, one of them grilled Hunter on if he was capable of leading the search and if, based on his comments, if he thought we could attract a top candidate.

I'm legit shocked anyone in our media had the stones to ask that type of pointed/loaded question.

The way our media has gone after Yurachek — and continues to stay after him — tells me he's on the outs with the boosters and it's just a matter of time for him now.
