- Millions to pay Enos
- Millions to hire a new OC on a guaranteed contract (if Sam is retained)
- Millions in lost ticket sales and merchandise from a bad season (that otherwise would have been pretty good)
- Further damage to the reputation of the football program

That's a bad ROI. They have no choice but to move on. Go find someone young, hungry (for wins), and innovative.

That guy was coaching at Memphis 6 years ago when we had an opening, and he wanted our job.

Yes, that is who I wanted them to hire, but that ship has sailed.

I just want someone who demands accountability.  There is a guy over in Tardville who claims to know someone who is in the program but not on staff.  He has been saying since the first of the season that our defensive staff is very organized, accountable, and results oriented. The offensive staff is grabass, lazy, and unorganized.  And the culprit is Sam.  He stays out of the defense but is buddy buddy with some of the offensive staff and they are always in his ear about this or that.  They aren't on the same page and he doesn't demand they get on it.  Thus, it is the worst of all worlds.  We have a coach who undercuts the authority of the offensive coordinator without being detail oriented enough to provide it himself.  These observations seem to match what is on the field.

That isn't going to get better unless a strong OC is hired and Sam is told to keep his hands off.  But, you know, why bother trying to save a coach from himself?  Hire someone else.

the boosters paid enos's buyout, it didn't cost the university a dime.

briles didn't leave because of money. pittman allowed a te coach input in the offense, who given an inch, wanted the proverbial mile. there was in effect three people involved in the play calling.

This board wanted Briles gone. The fan base wanted Briles gone. I wanted Briles gone. It's revisionist history, or at least hindsight, to say "man we should have paid Briles his money."

We got divorced from a B- to try to marry an A. Just because an F was the next bitch to move in doesn't mean we should have kept the B-. Like life, you just try again.

It's not a home run but it is solid.

I'm old enough and beaten down enough to be willing to accept a coach that wins 6-9 games a year, and occasionally when the stars align, is able to pull off something like 10-11 wins. Basically a more competent Nutt and what Petrino possibly would have settled into had he not been canned prematurely.

I don't think that's asking too much, and I don't think it's too defeatist, either.

What do you guys think about Kane Wommack at South Alabama?  He's been pretty successful down there and I think he would qualify as an up-and-comer.  He's got ties to Arkansas since his dad coached here and he went to Fayetteville High.  He seems like a good one to, at least, take a look at.

vegashog

anyone who's good at their job should be considered.

our recruiting has been focusing more in alabama and georgia, taking the ones those two schools don't want. that's the way to go.

there's 40 players from arkansas on the roster. we don't need 'arkansas connections', we get the instate kids anyways.

The fanbase didn't want him gone and I told you that we would likely get someone worse.

You don't get rid of a B- when you're going to have a D- trying to make the next hire.

When it comes to the up and comer types I think we can do better. I think Kane is probably going to have to get a lower rung FBS gig prior to getting a real P4/P5 gig.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Piggielicious

I think it is clear to everyone now that changing OCs and by extension your offense wasn't the smartest decision with a senior qb returning who was very good in that offense.

It torpedoed the season and should end Pittman's time here as head coach.

The U of A makes a habit out of stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime.

Totally agree. We should not hire Odom. Terrible recruiter, below average coach.

I never wanted Briles gone.

I thought you and everyone else calling for his head were idiots, and this year has proven that.

I'm with you on that. It's like saying the big money boosters should have provided a secret hideout with a motorcycle course and blonde volleyball players.

The inherent fuckup by Pittman was:

1) not trying to maintain some semblance of continuity and instead opting to turn over both coordinators
2) unnecessarily forcing a complete scheme change

Our defense in 2022 was historically bad. If one coordinator had to go it was Odom. Either way, Pittman's decision to completely change our offense schematically from was absurd and what led us to this point.

Enos had to go, but Pittman has to go for forcing that shift.

I sure do. I also know that their offense is much better than ours by a long shot this year.

I also know under Briles last year our offense was:

217 rushing yards per game
268 passing yards per game
