This.  The people saying it was going to implode in 2012 are basing that completely on what happened with 'SMILE' at the helm.  Would we have won the NC, likely not, but there is no doubt we end that year ranked probably in the top 10-15 at worst if coaches that team.  Put that with 2010 and 2011 and maybe, just maybe, it changes the whole trajectory of the program.

We might have only gone 8-4 that year. I suspect 9-3, but it damn sure wouldn't have been any worse than 8-4. 

The next year we might have even dipped as far as 7-5.  But in 2014 and 2015 you'd be hard pressed to find two losses in either season.   BP left more stud defensive linemen for Bert than we've had before or since.  And Brandon Allen would have reached his potential well before the last half of his last year.
