I think coaches like working for Pittman (like Bielema) because he is buddies with them and sets low expectations.

A guy like Saban or Petrino wears them out, squeezes every ounce of potential work out of them and sets expectations that if not met get you canned.

I guess for Pittman when you set that low bar then you make them easy targets and in the long run, those assistants are far worse off because of it.

That shit gets old too.  He doesn't demand a lot but he doesn't provide any guidance and he is quick to throw you under the bus.

Yeah, honestly Pittman could've probably gotten away with this year had he not chosen to:

a) Delete his Twitter/X account at the first sign of adversity (the BYU loss), then call out anyone who dare criticize that move

b) Do anything besides say 'I don't know' or 'I didn't know what to do' about things like in-game strategy or how to build momentum in the program that he's running

c) Probably should've put this at the beginning but I guess when he said he wasn't worried about his job, well of course not, you've got 16 million reasons to not be. Honestly his career went downhill when he ditched Judy Henry for Sexton and showed that he cared about his payday more than leading this "proud damn state."

It is pretty amazing to watch Yurachek completely fuck every bit of good will he had been given to this point with this stupid fucking (ridiculous, really) contract and refusal to fire Pittman.

He was universally adored just a couple years ago.  Now I'll be happy to see him go as well.  They are just telling us to go fuck ourselves and watch another shit seaason.  And when it happens, Sam will blame everybody but himself.

On the other boards the consensus seems to be that HY did in fact want to can him after Auburn but either got turned down flat or told that the money was contingent on Malzahn. 

Some say the chancellor and BOT stepped in.  I don't know.  This does seem like a BOT and chancellor type deal.  I can't really imagine any actual athletics guy or people who paid attention being dumb enough to think Sam could do anything other than suck next year.

Yeah, I agree.  And I cant really hold Sam's buyout against him.  When the likes of Houston and Indiana are paying more that to buyout coaches, an AD can be forgiven for thinking that any school that wants to compete will pay those as a matter of course.

I don't think Yurachek deserves any hate in this whole thing.  We've been a clusterfuck for long enough that I have no reason to not believe any stories of any PTB meddling or demanding that the next coach be Malzahn if Yurachek wants to make a change.

I think a big part of the problem with Arkansas is the way we pay our coaches.  We have $500k limit on the salaries for state employees.  So that means that the RF pays any amount over that.  Well, the Foundation is getting squeezed on donations because of NIL and everything else.  That means boosters have to cough up the cash and the Foundation has to cash flow it while gettjng squeezed.

Someone really should get the legislature to make an exception for coaches' salaries.  We have a $170 million in revenues.  We should be able to put salaries in that and as part of that.  It would make us a lot less dependent on boosters and donations and make things more like business up there.
