As far back as I can remember when it comes to coaching searches and everyone wanting this coach or that coach...it's never ever those coaches that get hired.

So it matters not if you mention Matt Campbell because now that he's in this thread he won't be hired by the UA. 

I do agree though that baring a total meltdown Sam Pittman will be making bad judgement calls for the Hogs this time next season.

I just don't see Sam at his age, with his money, wanting to stick around and put in the work, particularly if he wants to retire in Arkansas.  If he he leaves after this year, he'll still be popular down on Lake Hamilton.  He will still be able to drive the old Tritoon up to the dock at Sam's Pizza and sit out and drink a cold beer.  But if he tries to hang on too long, not only is he going to be miserable, he is going to damage his retirement plans.

How strong are the different donor factions these days?  Seems like since before Nutt (and moreso after) the PTB factions chose their guy, and refused to support if their guy didn't get the gig.

Maybe I am imagining this.  Don't we have big dick money donors who don't want to see us hire Gus, and just as big factions who want to hire him?

I wish the Waltons cared about sports these days.  They could give us the best team money can buy, and a coach to go with it.  There are three of the 2nd generation living in NWA full time now, with a combined net worth over $200 Billion.

We don't need a Billion, Alice, Rob, Jim....we just need about 30 million per year.  In other words, about 1/10th of what you each make on investments per quarter.  Just one of you stepping up could change us for decades.

Would it be worth it if we were the wokest athletic department in the country because that is what it would take to get any of that money.  That is all they care about.  I think that is even ahead of making money for them at this point, gotta virtue signal their way into Heaven.

Long wouldn't have gotten canned if he would have agreed to fire Burt. 

The boosters and BoT got that one right at least, even though they shat all over themselves with the football hire that they (not Julie Cromer Peoples) made.

Ferret Top has been doubling down on that all weekend, and I've been calling him on it every time he does.  He even dug Wally Hall out of the crypt to vouch for his shit take on the subject.

Yep. They'd require a Dylan Mulvaney type person be a position coach or even head coach. Then they'd have to have a DEI manager on staff and provide safe spaces for those that feel like the coach was being a poo poo head to them when things got tough.
