I have confidence in Yurachek, his hires in general have been great across the spectrum but nobody wanted the football job when it was last open and Pittman was likely as good as anyone interested, and he left us stronger than he took over.

Ferret Top has been doubling down on that all weekend, and I've been calling him on it every time he does.  He even dug Wally Hall out of the crypt to vouch for his shit take on the subject. 

They all fell for the CYA messaging from the board after Morris flopped.  "No way we would have hired that dumb bastard.  It was that stupid skirt pretending to know about sports.  She shoulda stayed in the kitchen.  We had Gus and Mike Norvell lined up and she overruled us."

What was his point in even doing that? Our media has definitely gotten their orders to protect whoever made that hire and shit on Sam. Not that he doesn't deserve criticism but when our media starts questioning you, that's generally the sign that your time here as coach is up.

Regarding the coaching search, I have no faith that we will hire the right person. Outside of Petrino, our history in the SEC is filled with constant whiffs, and I just don't see that changing anytime soon. We're likely looking at coach #5 since Petrino got fired, and we haven't been close to where he had us.

I think Pittman being a bit snippy here a while back is what got that started with the press taking the gloves off. He basically all but told those beat writers they didnt know what the fuck they were talking about or implying. Anyone could see this line was utter trash.

The press has pretty well nursed Pittman along with him being completely out of his element in public speaking upon his arrival. Now it's tossed into their face with some kind of righteous indignity...how dare we question him. As long as you are stroking his ego and playing along with the hee haw stuff you're fine.

So yeah Im not entirely shocked that the press is turned on him even Ferret Top or Trey Biddy.


I do want to have some kind of guard up here though because we fans are often too quick to make people the villain to satisfy and reconcile why things arent going the way we dreamed it up. At the end of the day the moment these coaches lose support it's over for them and that's not always fair to them. That's why in the best way possible the coach has to be able to set expectations and communicate what he's actually seeing.

 If all Pittman saw in fall camp was that our defense line was loaded with all Americans that should have been his clue...

Ferret Top can get fucked. He sucks and has sucked forever. He has zero journalistic integrity and makes performative statements without really saying anything, and hedges the shit out everything he says.

I'm not a huge Biddy fan but he's by far the best of the bunch who regularly cover the football program and attend press conferences. He asked a legitimate question about why we were rotating offensive linemen after the Kent State game and whether we knew who our starters were and Pittman got unnecessarily shitty with him. Biddy was right, it's uncharacteristic of a P5 team to be rotating linemen as much as we were 2 games into the season, as you'd have ironed out your starting 5 by then. So I can understand a guy like him being out on Pittman after that pissy exchange and being proven right.

God knows I'm no white knight for the media, but Sam can't have it both ways. You can't yuck it up with absolute fools like Bob fucking Holt asking the tough ones like "talk about how great a kid Rocket is" but then get pissy and cold the minute someone actually asks a legitimate question pertaining to depth, scheme, approach, preparation, etc.

I don't remember what Petrino's pressers were like (save for the one with a neck brace), but I can't imagine he suffered fools like Bob Holt.
