Quote from: animal on Oct 27, 2023, 12:24 PMI'm leaning toward Guiton at minimum will be the "co-oc next season, they'll bring in some budget friendly other co OC that will probably have an assistant head coach title and probably have experience as a D1 head coach

Sam is a lame duck coach and everyone knows it...but the media is pushing hard for this narrative that it was all the fault of Enos and Sam is just an innocent little lamb

Not to throw a wet blanket on it, but he hasn't even called a game before, not just here but anywhere. Next week will be his first time ever as a playcaller.

Even if we have a better-than-expected final few games, I still think it's risky asking someone so unproven to create an offense for us next year. If we hire an experienced OC or former OC as head coach, and if Guiton shows promise in November, and if he's compatible with the next coach (assuming we have a new coach), then I've got no problem with it.

Lots of ifs and questions until then, though.

Quote from: jdcatty on Oct 27, 2023, 10:28 AMNo, don't.  I have been beating the Traylor drum for some time, and think he is definitely worth considering.  Knows Arkansas because he's been there, fantastic high school recruiting connections in Texas (especially East Texas), and from people that know him, an all-around good guy.  A winner.

Everyone going to let this go without calling attention to the pic? Esp the lady in red?

Ok I'll step up. jd if it's your daughter I apologize.

Sam ain't coming back.  He has had a little time to think about it and he'll lay down just like his teams have been doing over the last two years.  He just needs a little time to get used to the idea.

Wow I just went back and looked.  I have no idea how that picture got attached to that post.  The picture of the young woman in red with her mother was one of the Jewish hostages that I tried in vain to attach to another thread to remark on her beauty. I have no idea how it got on that post. I couldn't ever get it to attach when I wanted to, so I gave up.

no way Sexton lets him walk, his clients do not quit, they get fired or they don't get the money.
Seriously, if Sam was all that then why did he fire Henry and hire Sexton?
He is not leaving money on the table or falling on the sword.
He's here until he gets fired.

it doesn't matter to sexton one way or another. agents get their percentage of the total contract. whether his clients complete their contracts or get bought out, he gets his money.

Quote from: Doc Hogaday on Oct 26, 2023, 11:23 PMThere was plenty of talent on that 2012 team. Some of it was young, but some of it wasn't:

Meh. Not much. Offensive line was suspect. Injuries wiped out both starting LB's early.

The only way Sam is getting fired is if he loses out and gets the 50% discount double check buyout reduction OR something to fire him for cause over which I'd like to think is not the style of the UA. We aren't Michigan State looking for a reason to fire a coach....well are but we have our scruples.

@bigpig

We always seem to have these crackers calling the plays. It's not lost on me that the defense got better and more talent came in the instant we hired a couple of minority coaches to lead the defense. They can and probably will do the same on offense. If we manage to show a pulse on offense these last few games I can certainly envision them giving Guiton the title if not the outright offense.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Quote from: DirkPiggler on Oct 26, 2023, 08:39 PMBobby would have won between 8-10 games with the 2012 team.

I don't know, that talent drop off...

He would've won plenty with our current talent level, I know that.

(Old Bobby, New Bobby isn't the same guy)

They still had a lot of the same players that went 11-2 the year before.

I think they would have lost to Alabama, Johnny Douchebag, and probably South Carolina's best team.  9-3 regular season.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

Yet the experts who have done it for years keep lining their guys up in the shotgun on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1.

Screw thinking little. The first move I would make would be to at least try to outbid FSU for Norvell. If we don't get him, we will at least make other good coaches aware of what we're willing to pay. Right now, it's going to take something outrageous to get us out of this hole.

The basketball game today proves what kind of support you get with a winner.

"Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times."

buff2.0

Norvell would love that.  Sexton would get him a Jimbo-size contract at FSU.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar when his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

Norvell would laugh in our faces, and rightly so.
